You should find a hole in the piece just above the trimmer head, this should line up with another hole deeper in the area. You stick a piece of rod in there to keep the head from turning. Use some pb blaster penetrating oil to help loosen up the head.

Most trimmers use a 40:1 ratio on fuel mixture. Check the gas tank on your trimmer, as some manufacturers label it as an imprint in the plastic tank itself.

A clogged fuel system or a carburetor in bad need of a rebuild can cause this. Also, if the engine end of the throttle cable has pulled out of the lever on the carburetor, or off of the trigger on the handle, you will have this symptom.
