From page 156 of the "Advanced Camera User Guide":

The file name could not be created because there is an image with the same name as the folder that the camera is attempting to create, or the highest possible file number has already been reached. In the Set up menu, set [File Numbering] to [Auto Reset]; alternatively, save all the images you with to retain onto a computer, then reformat the memory card. Please note that formatting will erase all the existing images and other data.

That often happens as a result of a short on this model. Try emailing them at this site: www.camerasandparts.com They service the Canon Powershot cameras exclusively and they do excellent work, all for about half of what Canon wants. If you need help with it, that site is the place for a Powershot. They are excellent, send them an email and I'm sure they can help you with this problem. Good luck.

I would take the battery out to reset it and put the chip in and then the battery and fire it up.
You can also clear the sd card in windows to avoid naming issues
After the card is accepted format it with the camera so the directory structure on the sd is restored

pls add thumbs if happy or leave me a comment if still in sorrow

cheers

Camera does not go on

Lens errors (E18 errors on Canons) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Unidentified Image

Usually the only time this message will appear is when you have taken the picture with another camera and try to review it on another. If this is not the issue, try formatting your card. Try another card. It may be a faulty memory card. If none of this works, call Canon tech support for free support.
