Hi Carole,
This is an indication of mechanical malfunction. Most of this symptoms is due to dirt build up inside which caused the mechanical to stuck. The unit must take apart to clean the tray and make an air blow. Another reasons of symptoms is the faulty mechanical tray motor. Once this part is faulty the tray will not eject and will sense by the processor and trigger the error code.
If you can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to isolate the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

ERR message on GM Delco CD Radio after ejecting CD Now CD will not work

read that thread i linked

it's possible to reset that GM radio by removing the fuse waiting a while for it to reset then re-installing the radio fuse

otherwise, it's time for an aftermarket head unit if that err 9 returns

Disc read err

Looks to me you can put in a variety of disks, But to make sure it is not just a disk that was in the sun or so, try it with a bought DVD. If that still giving problems, you could try to clean the laser, with a special cleaning CD / DVD.
Special if someone smokes in the car.

Vw beetle cd player wont read

I purchased a CD cleaner, ejected the magazine, inserted the disk after removing all disks in magazine, ran the cleaner through the cleaning process, then reinserted the disks and now both professionally made and homemade disks are working again

1999 Chevy Lumina won't play any CD, display reads 'ERR'

Hi:
Unfortunately, the ERR is a disk read error, and usually caused by the laser being out of alignment. It seems in my experience that An aftermarket deck is a cheaper solution than having it repaired.

Mech Comm Error

sounds like they may have forgotten to take out transit plugs from radio which holds cd mechanism in place when shipping unless you got a new radio thats a dud? but that may also mean dealer didnt check operation of new unit after replacement if replaced which is what usually needs to be done when this error message comes up

Cd player

There are cd cleaners that have tiny little brushes on them to knock the dust off the laser. It sounds like the lens is dirty and it isn't focusing.
Assuming, of course, that it isn't a non-MP3 player trying to read an MP3 format disk...
Nah, you wouldn't do that....

dear friend- the error code means the lazer is not reading your cd,if it is a pirate cd it might be the problem,or the lens must be cleaned.

DVDs presumed stuck and the player won't eject

Hi, If you feel comfortable opening the unit, then you may remove the top cover normally held by 2 - 4 screws. The tray should be visible and most units have a locking bar right at the center to hold the discs down. Removing this (2 screws normally, 1 at each end of the bar) would expose fully the tray with the 2 discs on top. Remove the discs and put the locking bar back with the screws. You can test the unit without the top cover. Please be reminded about safety precaution when working with active/live units and laser equipment. Power it up and check if the "mech err" still shows. If not you're set to cover it up, otherwise, your probably better off seeking the services of a qualified technician. This is a generic method which normally should apply to most CD/DVD units. Good luck and kind regards.
