I can turn the TV on and off, green light stays solid, but no sound and a black screen. This morning the TV had sound and gray fuzz, but I thought it was the cable b/c we had thunderstorms last evening. Not the cable, it works fine. I came home after work to find the no sound/black screen condition. Any ideas?

Thank you. Now the TV won't even stay on. I did as you suggested and activated the self-diagnostic feature. The error number is 23, derived from two flashes of the "on" light followed by three more flashes, and then a few repeats of the same pattern.

    Thanks,Ron

Hi Ron,
To determine where the fault came from, you may activate the "self diagnostic" mode of the unit. Once the unit is in self diagnostic, the led light will flash indicating the error code(first digit) then pause and will flash again(second digit error code). Count how many blinks does the unit have for first digit and second digit. Flashing of the led light error code will repeat 5 times.
Here's how to activate the "self diagnostic mode".
Press and hold the front panel buttons (not in the remote) "Input" and "Menu" at the same time for 5 second.
Let me know how many blinks it has to pinpoint what is the caused of the symptoms.

    Thanks for the response.

"23" error codes indicated that the unit was gone to "Horizontal Deflection Failure". This symptoms is not a DIY and quite technical because the affected parts is in the Flyback transformer circuitry. Based on my experienced most likely parts faulty is the horizontal transistor got shorted(either Q5A02 or Q5A00). It drives the FBT to produces High voltage and other secondary voltages needed by the unit.

Also, your unit is prone to bad solder joints (cracd/dried/cold solder). It will produced an intermittent symptoms before it got worst. This is hard to spot and needs to check in the brightest area or used table/portable lamp and magnifying glass to spot it in the board.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified Mitsubishi technician to isolate the problem.

    Hope I helped you.

    Have a nice day!

    Thanks for using Fixya.

Turn tv on. green light solid display, no picture or sound

The flashing green light is likely indicative of a self-test failure, indicating the TV has detected some sort of internal fault. With no picture or sound, one strong suspect is the power supply. Flat-panel TV's have an internal DC power supply that converts the inbound AC current, and when these fail, or are unable to supply a minimum level of power to the set, it can behave as you describe, providing only enough power for the green light to illuminate.

Mitsubishi wd52525 problems

i have thought about this since you first posted it. if the demo is good then the light engine is ok. it sounds like a problem in the chassis. probably on the DM and the terminal board. to repair the chassis would cost about $250.00 plus shipping.

Power button is green - no blinks / no picture / no sound

Unplug it from the wall, wait 2 minutes and plug it back in. if problem still exists, its probably the main pcb.
