Someone help me upgrade my lg gt540 - LG GT540 Cell Phone

First install your LG pc suite for android phones you can get it easily form the lg website and try to update

Connect your phone to PC. Make sure, you do NOT turn mass storage. Your PC suite identifies your phone type and it checks for any new firmware. If any new firmware is found. It will guide you to the steps. Before that take a backup of your contacts and SD card. Because you may lose data while upgrading.

There in your handset you will find and option of software or update .
Through internet connection you can download and update your handset manually

If I'm not mistaken, LG did NOT release Android 2.2 for the GT540.
As of now, I don't recall ever seeing any news of LG releasing a 2.2 update.
It is possible to install 2.2 on your LG GT540, but it won't be much of a conventional way. You can install a custom ROM. This will require you to have your device rooted, but it's quite debatable if rooting is a right way to go (http://android.appstorm.net/general/opinion/to-root-or-not-to-root/). If you are willing to take a risk, there are custom ROMs available to you like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927379 (this one's actually 2.3 already) but again, these are all experimental, they void your warranty, but if you're willing to risk it, then go ahead. :D But remember, if you brick your phone, you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

Update ny lg gt 540 operating system version 2.1 to 2.2

The GT540 is not supported in the On-Screen Phone application. I've already tried, and it asks on the connection screen to select the mobile that you have... GT540 is not listed thus not currently supported. Hope that helps.

My new Lg GT540 can not connect to my computer. I can not access anything through usb connection. What can I do. It did not come with installation cd.
