I'm getting error messages and black frames that show the image but just a black frame in Aperture. Some images show vertical color lines in the frame but no image. I have changed the CF card several times

Are the images you wish to display of the correct size, orientation and format for the frame ?

Probably there is nothing wrong with that scanner, just open and clean document feder with alcohol or glass cleaner.

You've apparently switched your camera to the widescreen mode. To switch to another mode, follow the instructions under "Changing the Recording Pixels (Image Size)" on page 65 of this manual.

The frame is cropping the images to fill the screen. You need to change the image display settings from Optimal to Original in the setup menu. This way the entire image will show.

Go into photo mode and press the right hand button on the top of the frame. That should put you in full screen mode.

I was having a problem too with my Smartparts frame. All the pics were from the same camera but some of the vertical (portrait) orientation shots wouldn't show right. Just a bunch of thin colored lines. After some phone calls I did try to "resize" the photos to the "resolution" of my frame (had to look that up too). My frame is 640 width by 480 high. So I took a shot and changed all the goofy photos to 480 width (since they were vertical) and let Photoshop change the the other number. Low and behold the buggers are showing up fine now. Well on to my next problem - focusing with the new D90. I think that one is going to be more challenging yet. Hope this helps you out.

It can be a variety of problems, unfortunately. The images may just be truncated from the get go. Make sure all the extensions are lowercase .jpg. If they are not, OPEN them in a program, save as .jpg, close and reload them.

Make sure they are .jpg and not .jpeg

Do not try to just change the extension, this corrupts the image.

Also, check the size and make sure they are not too large.
For the digital picture frames, a 5x7 at 72 dpi is plenty big. Just make sure not to override the originals with the compressed images.

Then, check the name of the pictures. Remove any spaces, dashes or any other symbols. Strictly use letters.

When all else fails, delete all the images from the frame and reload them again.

How are you loading the images on the frame?
From a card, or directly from the computer?
If from a card, make sure to eject it from the computer first, don't just pull it from the reader. This can really messes it up and the images. Same goes with the frame itself.

I have found that vertical lines that suddenly appear from projectors are due to poorly connected cables. Sut off your projector and wait for the fan to go off. Then unplug the connectors from the computer to the projector and secure them again, making sure to go all the way. Hope this helps.

It is possible that each frame would have image data imprinted without and image being exposed. This could be caused by the shutter not opening while the camera still exposing the film internally with the image data recorded. It is unlikely that this bad film since the emulsion covers the entire surface of the film and if it were bad the image data would not be recorded either. Another cause of this but very unlikely is every frame was somehow extremely underexposed. This could happen if the camera is set to manual and the light level is low and the shutter speed is set to a fast speed and the aperture is set to a very small aperture. I hope this helps!
