I have an unexplained smelly zanussi fridge/freezer model Model zx99/5si? I have a zanussi frost free fridge/freezer model Model zx99/5si which is just 4 years old and it is now giving off a revolting smell. The smell is not from any disgarded food it is the appliance producing this smell. My breakdown insurers Domestic and General will not cover my claim as they can not find the cause of the smell and Zanussi/electrolux have also fobbed me off!! Has this happened to anyone else and if so any suggestions

Hi - we had this problem, and it was in fact where some blood from a defrosting pice of meat drained into the compressor condensation tank and began to decay!

I agree the smell is terrible, so a good clean up is needed but this solves the problem immediately!

Kind regards,

Mike

Ice build-up in freezer door - in frost free freezer - no problem for 1st year.

It may be a symptom of air entering to the freezer, so the seal may have issues. Another possible cause if the ventilator in the freezer is not working anymore. It depends of the Fridge model number that you have.

Freezer seems to be working fine but fridge is not cold... fridge is on top of freezer, it is a frost free zanussi, not sure which model thou, just coming up to 5 yrs old ? any help would be great thanks

A fan controlled by a thermostat is required to move the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator for cooling. Use a volt meter testing the voltage on the fan. If you have voltage it is a bad fan. If you do not get a voltage test the thermostat. If it measures zero ohms short the thermal switch or if it is a short open one lead. If the fan works replace the thermal switch.

Leaking frost-free Zanussi fridge-freezer

Has this thing a separate frezer and cooler compartment.
Have tried to completely defrost and clean that thing.
At times like in airco's the pinch valve for the cooling process to effect (expansion) is stuck frozen, or very seldom broke.

Freezer has frost in back- frig not coolling

You have a defrost parts issue.
Unplug the fridge. Remove the back freezer panel and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
Without a model number I can not tell you where the defrost timer is.

Frosting & water dripping from freezer in Frost free freezer

Hi, You will find that your problem relates to the defrost heater in the freezer. You will need to take the drawers out and remove the back panel to access the evaporator. There is a foil heater that lays underneath the evaporator and it will need to be changed. Along with the klixon that controls it. This will ensure that both parts are good. Your problem will then be fixed no more water!
Good luck................

Fridge making a purring sound then stopped working

Yes, I think you have a problem that can be fixed easily by a repair technician. The sound as you described it could have come from the air circulation fan in the freezer compartment striking ice. As the ice builds up it could have stopped the fan from rotating and air flow to the refrigerator compartment.
