My Foodsaver vacuum won't shut off nor does it get the air completely out. I have to manually seal the bags by pushing the seal button & when I do it seems to loose some of the vacuum that it does have. I really like the unit when it works, but it's frustating when it doesn't. Hopefully you can help me solve my problem. Pat

SOURCE: Tillia Foodsaver VAC 370 won't stop vaccuming to seal

I had to take mine apart and clean the vacuum line out. It got tiny amounts of liquid in it over time and did the same thing. Before you take it apart, try setting the adjustment screw on the back. It's for altitude but, a slight turn could get you the results you need.

Check the altitude adjustment. Also, check for food debris in the intake hole, tube or path. Check for debris on the rubber seal around the sealing strip.

This is likely happening because the unit cannot detect that a vacuum has formed, and the gaskets around the vacuum channel are the probable culprit. The Foodsaver gaskets will deform and/or dry out with time, just like in any device, but you don't necessarily have to replace them. I've tried this inexpensive solution on my own Foodsaver V2490, and it works perfectly.
Buy some food-grade silicone grease and apply it to both the upper and lower gaskets. I remove the gaskets and coat both sides with a thin layer of grease before replacing them in their respective channels. And since this grease will be absorbed and/or dry out with time, you will have to do this occasionally, so I also flip the gaskets (i.e. turn them over) whenever I apply the grease.
You can buy a 2 oz container of silicone grease at any dive store, or you can buy it over the Internet by searching for "Trident silicone grease".
This is a link where you can buy it for around $7.00:
Dolphin Dive Center
I do not work at this dive center, but I am a scuba diver and already had some grease that I use for the numerous rubber gaskets in my gear. The 2 oz. jar will last you several years, and you will find many other uses for it around the house since the grease will last longer than a spray.

Vacuum doesn't complete before sealing the bag on my FM5330 Food Saver

Odds are it is dirty and the vacuum sensor is plugged. That makes it think the vacuum is complete. So it seals. Check the instructions or a youtube and clean it. You need to use the exact cleaning instructions. Odds are that will fix it.

Perhaps the bags you are using are not suitable. If they are too thin it will not vacuum air out.

Foodsaver V3840 Won't vacuum air out and wont go to seal. A label states the seals are not removable. Do you know how to fix?

you are not using a "good" bag. Make sure there are no holes and that the bottom and sides of the bag are properly sealed. It will run all day and not pull the air out if the seal is broken anywhere.

My Foodsaver Vac 1050 doesn't extract all of the air from the bag

Either the sealing strips are dirty letting air escape or the lips of the bag are turned upwards. Push the front of the bag down towards the bottm chanel and it should work fine. I have had one for eight years now and love it.Ken Vancouver BC
