'standby' mode and akb error number

Thank you for taking the time to help

when i push the power button the tv simply comes on - there doesn't seem to be a 'standby' state as you describe - am i missing something?

I did the self- diagnostic test and for the result for the AKB was '66' if you know what that means.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Danny

I have the same problem of Standby light flashing 5 times, as well as the screen blinking to black periodically. I see that this is the AKB, but how do you test this...and more importantly, how do you fix this?? Do I need a repair tech to come to handle; are parts needed? Thank you!

AKB 66 in self diagnostic test means...TV goes to standby (shut-off) for AKB problem 66 times. AKB is White-Balance signal and it is not proper or maintained in your TV. So error signal produced and TV goes to shut-down state.
Regardnig Standby button, its available on remote only. If you push TV Power switch, TV will switch ON, push it again to OFF TV. Power Button on remote set TV in standby status and you dont need to push power button of TV itself.

I replaced the power board on my Scott TV LCT37SHA. when I press the power button the red light blinks as I push it. if I hold down the power button it just blinks until I let it go. please help!!

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Sony Brava Blinking Code and their meaning

Hello,<br /><br />Below are some blinking code interpretations for your Sony Brava TV;<br /><br />ONE Blink--- not used for the self-diagnosis<br /><br />TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.<br /><br />THREE Blinks---B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. Check IC1509, Q1505<br /><br />FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC. I have a sony trinitron kv36fs210, no sound no picture, stand by light blinks 5 times, tried unpluging for 24 hours, same problem. google searched problem, results found akb circuit problem, im not a tv...

It seems to be a problem to the power supply unit. I would suggest you have a look at the circuit board and look for capacitors that could have a popped up head. If you notice any, replacing it would solve your problem. I had the exact issue with my tv and fixed it that way. If you have any question please do not hesitate to ask, good luck.

Sony kv-13fs100 keeps on blinking four times when power button is pressed, no picture. have no cable.

Hi, below are Sony blinking codes are thier solutions...Hope it helped...

ONE Blink--- not used for the self-diagnosis

TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

THREE Blinks---B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.

FOUR Blinks---No Vert. Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505

Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.

EIGHT Blinks---Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.

NINE blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. The TV worked fine on Sunday evening, turned it off the normal way when went to bed. Came down to turn on in the morning and only the red light comes on indicating standby mode. I have unplugged...

Hello,

There seem to be a problem that is why the television is not coming up and stays stuck on standby mode.

First try to turn on the television using the remote of the television and ensure that the battery of the remote is properly working, you can as well try to push the channel button on the television if the remote does not work.

If it does not come up both by using the remote and pushing the channel button, then it means it is a hardware problem, and that is from inside the unit of the television. Since the standby light comes up, it simply means power is reaching the main panel of the television.

This mainly used to be caused by a faulty or bad capacitor on either the main panel or the power panel of the television.

To check and fix, follow the steps below:

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

'standby' mode

I cannot decipher the '66' but essentially all modern sets don't turn off completely, but go to a low-power state.
Otherwise, no remote would ever work; the IR receiver has to stayed powered up if the set must respond to the remote IR transmitter.
