There is a check valve that has gone bad, this allows air into the tank, and does not allow the air to go back toward the compressors head. This can also cause the compressor to lock up.

I have a Mikita MAC2400 air compressor that recently stopped working correctly--it cannot build pressure over 40psi and the motor continues to run non-stop.

This could possibly be, you have some water from condensation buildup inside the tank, liquid does not compress. Before this next step make sure the tank is to 0 psi! Now, there should be a relief valve Wingnut on the bottom. Loosen the wing nut and drain as needed. Then retighten the wingnut (Do not overtighten). Plug the compressor in and try it. My second suggestion is, the psi adjustment pressure knob could be faulty replace as needed!

Charge air pro model ir330e20 builds pressure to only 60 psi and will not stop running

Cbillgreene:

Your compressor is leaking air somewhere between the compressor head and the tank. With the compressor running, feel carefully around the ends of the tube that leads from the compressor head to the air tank. You will probably feel some air leaking around one end or the other. If so... remove the tube and find out which packing has failed.

Air Compressor stalls when it reaches @ 40psi. Have a

You need to find an amp probe from someone and use it to monitor the amps as the compressor is building up pressure. If the amps start increasing dramatically as it nears the stall point it would seem that you have a seizing problem or electrical motor problem. This answer only applies to the exact statement that you gave. ( Air Compressor stalls when it ). Mike [email protected]

Ec12 hitachi air compressor will not build pressure higher than 40psi

most likely the the reed valves are stuck or miss aligned. Worse case senerio your piston seal blew causing this not to build pressure. Read manual on how to disassemble head. to remove should be 4 bolts and your copper line, just be careful of the reed valve plates, they are thin steel that sit into the head. Put back the same way you took it apart.

Air Compressor, low pressure

does the compressor keep running all the time but never gets above 40 or does it turn off at 40?
if it is turning off at 40 I would try using another gauge just to be sure it is 40psi, and if that is the case then you probably have a faulty pressure switch, if the compressor is constantly runnign but won't get past the 40psi then you may have a worn out compressor, check the oil for either a low level or if the oil is dirty, if it is you may just need to drain and refill but if that doesn't fix the issue then you will need to rebuild the compressor
