Password protect wireless access

You'll need to access the administrator web page for your router, and then set a security key (password) for wireless users.

For step-by-step instructions for setting up security on the D-Link DI-614 router, see:

Lock my router

You can reset you router to it's factory default settings:

Have you somehow lost your D-Link router's password? Perhaps the easiest way to gain access to your router's admin interface is by restoring it to the default factory settings, however, if that is not possible, try method number two via the master password. If you lost your WEP password, visit this post for more info - Recover Lost WEP Wireless Network Password Key.

How do I find my network key (WEP or WPA Key)? I am using a D-Link WBR-1310 Wireless router.

Try connecting your pc hardwired to the router. Then open up internet explorer and type in 192.168.0.1 on the address bar. You'll be forwarded to the interface of your router. If it asks you to login, make use of "admin" the username and "password" as the password or if it doesn't work use "admin" as well for the password. Once your logged in, click on wireless setup then click manual wireless setup and look for network key. That is the WEP or WPA key that your looking for.

How do i put a lock on my wireless router

Are you trying to lock it so no one can connect to your network, or lock it so that no one can access the setup? If you're trying to make it so no one can connect to your network, go to your router setup page(192.168.1.1). If you haven't changed the password for the setup page, it should be Username: admin Password: password. Look for Wireless Security, and add a WEP key. Once the router resets, your computer will ask for a key to connect to the network. Just type in what you made the key and you'll be connected.

If you want to lock it so nobody can change the settings, you'll need to do that from the settings page just like last time, except this time look for Administration. Usually it's one of the last tabs. In there you'll see the administrator password. Just change this and you'll have it locked.

How do i secure my router?

Use the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=638vxDkWYbk or use: First of all you need to access the router. Use the following:

Wireless network key

Log in to the D-Link wireless router's administration interface. This is usually done by opening "http://192.168.0.1/" or "http://192.168.1.1/" in your web browser. Some administration interfaces will help you obtain the key, but there's no real way to tell without trying it. If you've also forgotten the password for the administration interface, consult your router's manual for the default password.

Reset the router's configuration if you also can't remember the password to the administration interface or you just want to start over. Using a small object to put into the hole of the small reset button on the back of the router, press the button and hold it down for several seconds. A pen or toothpick or paperclip will work.

Reconfigure the router, including your router's SSID and WEP or WPA options. Consult your router's manual for specific steps on this task if you're unsure how to proceed. Choose a new password and a new network encryption key. The password should be difficult to guess, but not so difficult that you will forget it (again).

Write the information down in a hidden but handy location, such as inside your router manual. Recovering a lost password is complicated, and it's often less effort to create a new key and distribute it to your users. If you can't log in to your administration interface or the interface will not tell you your network key, then the key is permanently lost.
