How do you get the camera to charge? I put in new batteries and it still says battery low and shuts off. I have plugged it into the computer and it still won't charge. It won't even turn on.

Some camera will not turn on (Turn on but not take pictures etc) when you plug it in USB, it will only communicate with the camera PC suite software to transfer pictures.

Regarding the battery, if your camera has mobile phones type lithium ion batteries then you can either charge these batteries outside if you have a charger for them or put the battery in camera and plug the camera with its charger that came with it. Its just like charging mobile phone.

If your camera uses AA size (pencil cell) batteries then you will need to either buy Duracell batteries (or any other good Alkaline battery, Duracell is good) and throw them when they stop working or

Buy rechargeable AA size Ni-MH or Li-Ion batteries with charger. Charge the battery with its charger for at least 12 hours before first use or follow the instruction written on battery pack.

I think you are either using normal carbon AA size batteries that are used in clocks or toys, these will not work in digital camera.

You need to fully charge your battery pack. When you buy new rechargeable batteries it has low or none charge at all.

My Kodak Easyshare M580 will not turn on. It said the battery was low so I plugged it into the wall to charge it and the light was blinking at first and then the light shut off. Now, the camera won't turn...

The battery is probably a Li-ion battery and if the voltage gets too low, trying to charge it will lock the battery out as this is a built in safety feature to prevent the battery from charging too fast and causing a fire. You may want to try this. Take the battery and put it in to freezer for about an hour (do not Freeze), and then put it back in your charger and try to charge it. If it does not come back to life then the battery is kaput, and you are going to have to get a new one. You may have to any way as the battery is old and has lost it's ability to be recharged fully.

If the camera says that the battery is low, do you put a new battery in or can you plug it into the computer to re charge

My canon SX110 IS camera has recently started displaying 'battery is low' and flashing the red low battery sign even a few minutes after putting in brand new batteries. I have tried with several new sets...

I had the same problem with new batteries reporting as "low" and instant shut-off. After I found that it would stay on when plugged into USB, I suspected a firmware bug in the camera (I am a computer engineer). So I thought "how can I fool it?" I then found that it would stay on if you power it up with the rotary dial BETWEEN the video and manual ("M") setting -- in the "illegal" position. The after it's on, every mode works!

Battery low indicator comes on even after new battery installed

I also have this problem. I put freshly recharged batteries in the DX3900 and the camera starts to turn on and reads the memory card (the green LED blinks) and then I notice that the in CAPTURE mode the lens does not extend out of the body housing. The top display shows a flashing low battery warning and after approx. 15 seconds, the camera shuts off with no function.

I have determined that the camera appears to have changed its low battery sense level as I have verified that the batteries are indeed fully charged by using a volt meter. If I have the camera in a warm environment, and do not have the LCD display on (removes a major power drain) the camera can be made to work for a short while. If I select the LCD to turn on, the extra drain seems to cause the camera's battery monitor to think that the battery voltage is too low and the camera shut down. I have yet to resolve this issue.

Low Battery Light Even with Brand New Lithium Batteries

If indeed the batteries are brand new and without a doubt charged,
then you definitely have a hardware problem in the camera.

You're probably going to have to give it in to be serviced.

Hope I helped!

Kodak EasyShare Z760 won't charge.

The problem might be that the battery has developed memory and won't charge further. My first battery used to do that, but then I read that you shouldn't leave the camera on the dock all the time nor keep the battery fully charged all the time because of the problem of developing memory. You might try running the battery completely down by taking pictures until it shuts down. Sometimes when my battery is low the dock won't charge (but goes straight to the red light), but when I run it completely down when I put it on the dock it charges properly. I hope this information helps. :-)

I have a camera battery question...Kodak M853.?

Hey cambameriezz,
I would make sure I purchased the correct battery, and if you did I would make sure the battery terminals in the camera are clean by cleaning them with a soft cotton swab. If none of this works I would try charging the camera using the ac adapter rather that plugging it into the computer.

Sincerely,
Allan

Is my camera broke?

sounds like your battery or charger might be defective. I have this camera an when the battery is to low it flashes the screen.
I still use the original charger that came with it to charge the batteries, been thru 4 of those. It seems if they set a while without being charged the go bad.
