I have a Salton micorwave oven (MW-2027P). The timer works but the cook setting will not start. There is also no light on the inside when I open the door.

The fan, a door switch, or control board relay may be causing the fan issue. Running the MW without a fan will not only cause steam buildup inside the cavity, it will cause the magnetron to overheat. If the MW has a thermal protector on the mangetron, it should shut the oven off when the temperature gets too high.

If the light works what does not work? Some of these have a safety switch embedded in the door opening (have to get at it from inside the unit) that will prevent unit from cooking and not allow the table inside to rotate.

Its there to prevent the unit from being used if door is open but it sometimes either fails or gets out of position.

Most likely a blown fuse inside the MW. It will be on the control board or on the incoming power line inside the cabinet.

sounds like there is a switch that is bad. you can go buy a new MW for about 200$ and in yours if there is a major problem then i would just go buy a new one but might be worth a repair man to come check it out


pleas do not poke around in the microwave as it carries a charge of 5000volts and can kill you even if not plugged in DON'T TOUCH THE WIRES WITH BRAIDS ON THE OUT SIDE if you must get inside of the unit

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
