Appears I'm not alone with this problem. How do I get the menu button to work? Thanks for your help.
I had the same problem and fixed it! There is a small resistor just to the left of the menu button that was misaligned in theproduction process and the slightest amount of shock(i.e. small drop or maybe even bumping the camera with your hand) wouldbust the resistor's connection loose.
I basically just pulled the cover off, removed the old resistor and bridged the two points and that fixed it.
I am putting a more detailed HOWTO on the front page of my site, you can view it without making an account, but feel free to if you want. I hope this helps a few people.
http://HouseOfChaos.gotdns.com is my site, I also took a few pics and should have them up tomorrow.

It worked for me too. Although I was not able to 'bridged the two points' where the connector use to be, I carefully laid a small flat head screwdriver to bridge them temporarily and then pressed the (internally) menu button to access it and tell the camera to only use the internal memory when no SD card is in.
I Followed your instructions and it worked perfectly, great advice Thank you very much.

Try cleaning it with a soft cloth, press it severel times or try shake it a little bit.Anything pointy (not metal) would help u clean the button. As a last resort I recomand disassambing the part with the button, but that could be tricky...
