Sylvania 13 inch -- model unknown

First, I'm not a Sylvania representative.

If its 20 inch its not the model in the photo here, aside from that if something serious is wrong cheaper to buy a new set than fix this one, I am willing to help if know model and whats wrong with it.

If there are lines on the screen [parellel lines across the screen horizontally, at about an inch or so apart], your tv needs screen adjustment. Its screen voltage is now high. It can be brought low by adjustments. There is a screen adjustment control, usually integrated with Line Output Transformer. If you know, you yourself can adjust this. It is an internal adjustment and need to open the back cover of the TV. Don't use your TV for long time without rectifying this problem. It may get picture tube damaged. The electron guns inside the picture tube neck will get red hot and its emmision will be reduced.

You TV has a bad CRT, a red CRT by the sounds of it. This TV is rather old, perhaps 11-13 years of age? Your TV has given you many years of service and I do applaud you for the care you have given it and the TV for it’s reliable in your home. The trouble you face with a rear projection CRT set of this age is that you can’t just change 1 CRT tube and expect it to be reliable and produce a good picture. All 3 tubes should be replaced, as they have all aged the same. The lives of these tubes are only about 7 years. A tube is not any easy or inexpensive repair on any RPJ TV. When you are faced with the cost of 3 tubes, which may not even be available in the market place… You should consider retiring this old friend and keep the manufacture in mind as you make a new purchase.

The vertical sync circuit has gone bad...you'll have to have it repaired if you want to keep it

tv worked great, turned it off one day and back on the next and the on light would not come on nor would the tv work, rear projection 52 inch rca

It sounds like your vertical has shrunk, causing the picture to look squashed. Most likely a bad component in the vertical output stage.

Bad electrolytic cap(s) in vertical deflection section.

This problem sounds like a short inside the picture tube itself unless a driver transistor failed that drives the red gun in the CRT. You may have to take it to an authorized repair facility if the picture tube is still in warranty.

What makes you think the picture tube is bad? What exactly are the symptoms you see? The RCA 20 inch picture tube is a good quality long lasting tube and I doubt I have ever seen a bad one.
