I have a camera Canon Powershot G9 and I was taking pictures when suddenly the camara got blocked even with the zoom lens out and I can not turn it on or off, see picture or take pictures.nothing. When I connect it to the computer it does not recognize it. Please help.

If any amount of moisture has entered the camera this will not be a user fix, it will require service.

Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. This G9 problem is really common. These cameras develop a problem with screws coming loose inside and causing a short in the camera. This is usually from a loose screw inside the camera, a screw inside the camera can come loose and cause a short which is very common on the G9. If you go to: www.camerasandparts.com all they deal with is service for the Canon Powershots. They're great if you need a hand with one of these and they automatically do the no power correction on the G7's and the G9's they service which is nice. They are about the least expensive out there at $89 and they include the service and the shipping back. The best part, they do excellent work which is a must for me. Hope that helps you some.

i got the exactly same problem!!
i bought it on 16th/Feb, next day,17/Feb not more than 20 pictures i took, the issue comes (lens won't action while shift the zoom lever, but it's working ok while switch on and off the camera)
so i bing it to the shop with my angry, they just said to me that you must dropped the camera.

--but i sware i didn't !!!
now they took the camera to Canon base for the exam...
