Hp zt3000 with a Winbond SD Card reader will not read a 4G SDHC card. Is there a fix?

The zt3000 came out in 2003. The SDHC standard came out in mid 2006. Unfortunately, there is no hope. A firmware update for the WEC0518 SD device is the only way it would work, and there is no such firmware update. It is now 2011. It will never be updated. Winbond doesn't even make readers anymore (www.winbond.com). So, you'll have to get a usb reader.

Memory card reader for hp pavilion doesnt work how do i find drivers or repair

If it worked before and then stopped working all of the sudden, it may be that a Windows Update caused a conflict with the driver software for the reader. Try going to the HP support website and see if more recent drivers are available. Start with hp.com and go to the support section. If it never worked and you think it might be a hardware problem, the easiest solution is to buy an inexpensive USB memory card reader. They're pretty simple to use and there are many kinds available.

Its not recognizing my sd card reader

Make sure you can see the Secure Digital host controller and
Texas Instruments PCI GemCore based smartcard controller in the Device Manager. If its missing, re-download the drives from HP.

If you are trying to use a SDHC Memory Card in the reader,
you will need updated Win XP TI drivers as the ones on the HP site
do not support the newer memory cards.

This goes for the nx5000's nx6110's nc6120's and nc6320's.
Updated XP TI drivers are needed

My hp pavilion zd8290ea does not read read cards higher than 2gig

Have you verified that the card reader is recognized and the driver is the correct one in the Hardware Manager? If yes than most likely it's broken. You can usually replace it on HP's.

My SD Card Reader Won't Work, Need A Solution

Go here:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/ex_4620.html

(The US server seems to be having problems right now)

Download the XP cardreader 2.0.0.8 drivers, install them. There are three possibilities to your problem:
1. The reader is broken
2. The reader's driver is malfunctioning
3. The reader has an issue that might need new firmware
4. All your cards have become currupted somehow (a malfunctioning device[IE camera]] or other reader, this is highly unlikely though)

Try the driver first, then if that doesn't work, then a motherboard bios update might help(but beware, this is a dangerous procedure, I wouldn't try this unless the update documentation specifically stated that it fixed an issue with the reader). I don't see an update for the firmware of the reader itself, so hopefully it doesn't need one.

Good luck

SD card reader

1) There is SD card reader on pavilion dv 1000, so you need adapter in which you insert mini SD card to make it SD
2) If you have that adapter, check adapter. Maybe it's broken.
3) If your card is biger, like 2GB or higher you may try updatenig drivers (I read on one web page: " There was a software update for support of reading and using higher memory SD cards, for my pavilion ZV5000, on the HP Software update website." )
