I have an Epson TX-410 and the black cartidge won't print. I have checked all the settings and the printer is recognising that there is a black cartridge there and its full (just bought a brand new cartridge and getting same issue) There are no error messsages appearing on the printer and it seems to think it is printing properly, but none of the black ink is being printed on the page

I get the feeling Epson has their printers programmed to shut the pumps down on those who use any ink or cartridge other than theirs. If they didn't have such a short life, I wouldn't mind using just theirs. But every couple of days? Of coarse I would to try to find a way to not go broke by using alternative methods. Well, the black ink stopped, even after Inserting an original. But I'm not going to fix mine. I'll just buy a better brand with a larger ink capacity. Gotta get that money.

SOURCE: Epson RX560 ink cartidges not recognised

Report this to Epson Support.
Remove all cartridges and switch the printer off
Reinsert and retry.
Download the Epson utility www.ssclg.com
and use it to Reset counters.

My Epson R285 will not recognise compatible cartridges,mainly the black.I ran out of black ink and installed a compatible cartridge but it did not recognise it.To get the printer running I had to buy a genuine one which worked.I then ran out of all the other colours soon after and installed compatible ones which were accepted.I have now ran out of the black again but the printer will not accept the compatible cartridge.How can I solve this problem as the printer has accepted black compatibles before.

Sorry Desperate. All inkjet printers, from all companies, are programed to only operate with ink in all containers to avoid other problems. Their is no workaround. Please rate me not harshly just because you don't like the answer. Rate based upon the truth of an answer.

Buy a Universal Resetter for Epson Intelligent Ink Carts and follow the instructions. They work like a dream! Freely available from most third party cartridge dealers and eBay.

Epson workforce 520 won't recognise ink cartidges

When replacing ink on the Epson Workforce 520, Ensure the cartridges have the correct/same number of gold contacts. Ive seen them with 7 and 9 gold square contacts and they were otherwise identical, and the ones with 9 contacts threw an "cartridge not recognized" error on the printer's dispay.

Have you checked the settings if they are set to Grayscale only or use black cartridge only. Options in printer settings? try to restore all to default settings and this will solve your problem.

The red and green lights are flashing continously and it won print

The lights continually flashing indicate a paper jam or the printer being out of ink. Check/clear any paper jam and verify the ink cartidge is set correctly.

No, you don't want to install the color cartridges for taking the black and white printout. Check for the printer settings for "Only Black and White".

My x4650 is not recognising when I refill the black 36XLA cartridge. Just keeps telling me it is empty. There is not a problem with the cartridge itself just the failure to recognise it has been refilled....

turn on/off, unplug, plug in

, should reset configs.

take all the paper out, put half as much back in.
check the rollers to make sure no paper or particles are stuck.

go to applications folder for your computer, dbl click printer icon for make of printer. check settings. print 'test document and clean cartridge heads', this should ensure proper printing formats. or take cartridge out and put back in to insure in securely.

lastly, go to web site of printer model and check site for trouble shooting if this does not work above.

is your printer set up in you windows, can you go to printers, see your machine listed, make sure it is the default printer, and tell it to print a test page from there. if that doesn't work, can try other things, but don't want to write a long list of things on here to begin with.

My printer is not printing

Go to the setting on the printer and go to maintence or option ink? set it to both color & black. If you are only using black set it to black only depending on what you have on the ink cartidge. I hope this was helpfull.

Cartidge problem

Many "compatible" cartridges are badly manufactured or even labeld wrong. These can damage or block the connectors on Epson printers. your best bet is go buy new ink and try them, then if it still dont recognise, you could buy some ink cleaning cartiridges and give them a try - Google "Epson Print Head cleaning" Failing that go buy a new printer - Epson's are real cheap new.
