Look under the stool for the water valve coming out of the wall and turn it clockwise till it stops turning. This will turn the water off. Flush the stool and get all the water out of the tank as possible.
Look where the water hose goes to the bottom of the stool tank. You will have to take the hose loose with a pair off big water pump pliers or crescent wrench.
After taking the hose loose from the stool, there will be a big nut just above where you took the hose off the tank. You will have to look under the tank to see this nut. Use the same wrench to take this nut loose. You may have to hold on to the old valve.
Once you get this nut off, the valve will be loose from the tank, and you will have a little water leak out of the tank which you can catch with a big towel.
You should be home free from here. Put the new one back in reverse order.

Eljer Windsor One Piece Toilet help - leaks water into bowl

I would go back with the ballcock kind. However, the flapper will need to be replaced. It is not seating properly. The fluid master is a revised version and a bit more efficient. It should work well also. They both work off buoyancy and shuts off water the same way.

The cistern is not refilling

  1. Coming from the wall you will find a valve that through a hose, connects to the toilet make sure this has been turned (counterclockwise) all the way. (If this solves your problem then you can skip to step 5)
  2. Purchase a "Fill Valve & Flapper Repair Kit" from you local hardware store (under $15).
  3. To install Turn aforementioned valve Clockwise and follow the manual for your particular repair kit
  4. Turn valve mentioned in step 3 counterclockwise.
  5. Enjoy your working Toilet!

We have installed a new fluidmaster toilet repair kit but the toilet keeps running

Hi dona way,

There are 2 things that can be adjusted to stop the toilet from running. It will keep running as long as the water level does not maintain itself.
First, is the valve at the exit hole in the tank seated completely. You may have to adjust the chain, or make sure the chain doesn't hangup so the valve seats well. Did you clean the opening well before putting the valve on? If there is calcium build up, you may have to sand the opening a bit to give a nice smooth level surface.

Second, Is the water running because the float is set too high and the tank fills past the overflow pipe opening. This also can be adjusted. The instructions that came with the kit should explain how to do this.

Good luck,

I hope this helps. If it does, please place a vote for me. Thanks,

Korky anti siphon 528 is leaking, water is high and leaking in drain pipe

If the water is reaching the tank overflow tube, the float valve is not stopping it fully. If the valve is new or not too old and you have instructions or know how to disassemble it, you can flush it to ensure there is no debris in the valve or on the seat. Although the manufacturers recommend this, I have never found anything on the seat.
If you can't do this, a new float valve assembly must be installed.

This summer I purchased a eljer toilet. it listed as a 10 flush which is the best I guess. now it is continually turning on to level out the tank. is this normal for eljer toilets? and if not what has to...

ok, this sounds like a float or valve issue, should be an easy fix. you can adjust the float or just replace it with the one piece type. you may not be able to adjust it and get it to work, so I think the best thing to do is just replace the whole float assembly. About ten dollars or so at home depot or someplace like that. Turn off the supply valve, flush the toilet, and drain the tank by removing the plastic nut underneath on the left side. Drain the remaining water into a bowl. There is also a nut on the supply line that will need to be removed first. When you remove the nut that is flush with the bottom of the tank that also holds the valve in place inside. Take off the rubber hose inside the tank and remove the entire float and valve. The new one piece will have a adjustment for the tank level by just turning the entire unit. Make sure you put the rubber washer that is supplied with it on the bottom and put it back into the tank and tighten from the bottom with the new plastic nut. Make sure the valve inside is pointed at the plastic tube and re-attach the rubber hose. Then attach the supply line, tight, but not with a tool, just your hand. Turn on the supply valve, re-fill the tank, flush, and check for leaks. Remember, buy the one piece type, should be a gray valve with a black float built right on it. Good luck

WATER KEEPS RUNNING ON TOILET

The screw can be used but only for minor adjustments. The missing tube should be replaced. If this doesn't solve the problem purchase a repair kit. The repair kit comes with everything you need for about $20 and can be installed yourself (saving $$$ if you called a plumber)

I have a 10-year old 2-piece Eljer 1.6gpf (not sure of the model number). The water keeps hissing and does not stop, unless I give the float a little ****. After a long time the I hear water drops coming...

There could very well be salt buildup on the parts that could be cleaned off. Also, if the toilet is not flushed multiple times each day, algae can build up on the shaft, which you could also try cleaning off. Take a peek around the float assembly, and you should see a screw or clip that stops the piece from dropping down. Try releasing the screw or clip, and move the float down, but only a tiny bit at a time. You'll have to experiment a little, maybe moving it several times, but you'll eventually find a good spot. If none of these steps work out, let me know, and we can work from there.
