Hi. Did you put it down with the adjustment knob or by loosening screws and rotating it down manually? I'm guessing manually, in which case you may have allowed it to bind with other elements of machine. Try rotating machine by hand while feeling for any point at which you might be able to dislodge the jammed parts and return them to they're original position, re-loosening and re-tightening the appropriate screws as needed.

Kenmore Sewing Machine Model 385.16221 feed dog is stuck down,m the lever just does nothing. It lowered feed dog, then was useless when I went to raise it to position.

your machine will have a flip type opening at the very front of your machine above the area where the needles are attached to the arm that moves up and down ( it usually has the light globe installed in there ) after opening that door you will see where the dog feed is attached to it should also have a spring that helps the dog feed return to the up position when not in use , make sure it is not stuck in any way and some lubrication oil should be used to prevent it from sticking , while using the dog feed release button push the spring in a up and down motion to help it to dislodge

Janome 3050 feed dogs wont come back up

Dropping the Feed Dog
The feed dog can be lowered with the drop-feed lever for sewing on buttons etc.
  • Shift the drop-feed lever to the right to lower the feed dog.
  • Shift the lever to the left to raise the feed dog, it will return to the up position when the machine is started.

NOTE:The feed dog should be in the up position for regular sewing. Turn the handwheel toward you to check if the feed dog comes up after setting the lever in the up position

Bernina feed dog down and will not return to normal position by switch

1. Clean and lubricate entire machine following the MANUAL instructions.
2. Try to "lower" it again then try to raise it - several times.
If this does not solve it, see a service person.

Feed dogs do not return to up position

manually rotate the handwheel a few times after deselecting the feeddog drop. if this doesn't work, take the machine to an authorized Viking for evaluation.

Feed dogs not advancing fabric, only moving up and down

Normally it's good form to give us the make and model number of your machine.

Sounds to me your problem began with operator error. Get in the habit of grasping the threads and holding them as you take your first few stitches. Also make sure your take up lever is in the UP position before you take your first stitch.

Now, look to see if your feed dogs are lowered... if they are put the back up. If this happens again... you've got a warn or broken part.. and you should return the machine. Clearly your "repairman" sold you a lemon.

Feed Dogs

when the feed dogs are in the up position the sewing machine
will sew
but when the feed dogs are down postion it will darn
try the feed dog lever again if you can move the feed dog lever and
the feed dogs respond going up and down then you know that
the feed dogs are working and are not broke
but if they do not respond then they need to be checked to see what's
wrong with them

Feet not feeding and thread bunching up

the presser foot or what ever foot your sewing with does not feed the
fabric,, the feed dogs in the needle plate are what moves the fabric
to be sewed, the feet only hold the fabric against feed dog so the
machine can use the needle to sew the fabric.
if the fabric is not moving then the feed dogs have to be checked
can you see the feed dogs in the needle plate area are the up or
down?
do you have a manual for the machine?
a manual help to know where the feed dog lever is, I'm sending
you a link for a manual for the machine, so you can look for the feed
dog lever, if the feed dogs are up then there is something wrong
with the feed dogs & they need to be checked.
but if the feed dogs are down then look in the manual & see where
the feed dog lever is & put it in the up position & see if that brings
the feed dogs up to the sewing position, if the feed dogs do not
come up then the feed dogs need to be checked.

I dropped the feed dogs and they won't come back up.

Ignore all the other comments, they are wrong.
The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

Feed dog is stuck

I have the same problem...this is a work around, not a fix. You need a small flat-head screwdriver. 1. Remove the clear bobbin cover. 2. Make sure the feed dog switch is in the DOWN position. 3. Slide the screwdriver under the feeddogs from inside the bobbin area & lift the feed dogs. 4. While holding the feed dogs in the up position, return the feed dog knob to the up position. You have to do this every time you put the feed dogs down...bummer, but I can find no broken part or adjustment that corrects this. If it's inside the machine body, I don't mess with it... I did take off the bottom plate in the feed dog area..one screw holds it.... there is nothing there to indicate a problem.
