My yamaha rx-v995 always resets on the default settings everytime i power it on, maybe an internal battery failure for i bought this unit many years ago. that's the only issue on this great receiver. I can't locate the internal battery, i planned to replace it but to no avail i can't find it......please help. Many thanks.... PJ Figueroa III

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V995 receiver turns on & then powers off 2 seconds late

I suggest you run self diag.  press [FM/AM] key + [Input mode] key and press the [power/standby] switch.

ps prt = power supply problem
dc prt = shorted output or leakly cap in channel
tmp prt means to hot on heatsink

you'll likely have to measure the resistances of the output FETs to find a short,

SOURCE: mp3 connect yamaha rx-v995 ---> muddy sound

Try getting into the configuration menu of the MP3 player and adjust the output controls for external devices....it sounds to me like it might be too high and/or the wrong output decoding.

SOURCE: connect Airport Express to Yamaha RX- V659

Since you're using a standard mini jack to double RCA cable, it's safe to assume you'll be sending line level signal into your reciever, so i think any of these audio inputs will do: AUX, CD, DVD, MD, TV.

Also try the inputs on the front of the unit (i guess they are meant to be used with a video camera or similar but they are designed for line level signals so it should be ok if you decide to use them).

Anyway, keep the source signal at a moderate
level when you test any of the inputs and raise it to a suitable level after you're sure it is coming thru well.

Normally, the AUX input is suitable for any AUXilliary signal source that puts out a line level signal, but if it is already being used, you may use other free inputs.

If you use TAPE or PHONO inputs, you should keep the signal level from the source a bit lower since these inputs will amplify the signal a bit more (especially the phono input which works with signals that are lower in level than the line signal).

I hope this helps.

RX-V995 Won't Start - Found Possible Fix But Need Parts

HI,

Start by checking the fuse, take the cover off the reciever and look for a small glass fuse attached to the board. If it's blown replace it.

I bought Yamaha RX V565 4yrs ago, then after 2 years, may receiver always shut off 5 minutes everytime I open. What is the problem or reason of shutting down my receiver? Thank you

press and hold both the "DIRECT" and "TONE CONTROL" buttons and press power and see what it says on the display. This will give us some idea of what is causing the receiver to turn off.

Does not retain menu settings/levles when switched off at the wall. Goes back to default settings.

There is a small battery that is inside the system that will need to be replaced. Usually lasts about 5 to 10 years. Battery can be ordered once you find it, and it will have to be carefully pryed out of it's container ring. Very difficult to get to. Very nice receiver, better left to the pro's if you want it to remain under warrantee.

Yamaha RX-V995: Remove On Screen Text

Here is a dumb try :). Connect your video source directly to the TV/projector, bypassing the receiver from inserting any messages.

If you are probably going to HD sometime, you would need to do that eventually as 995 doesn't have HDMI/Digital Video switching.
