The Kenwood 1060VR is getting static through the speakers on the Pro Logic setting. I'm not sure what is causing it. The speakers worked well with another receiver. At first glance on the inside nothing jumps out as being a problem. Considering I don't know what to look for - who knows. The unit is about 15 years old.

SOURCE: Kenwood VR-305 receiver surround speakers will not work

make sure that all input cables are in the correct positon also make sure that any inputs you are using don't have a macrovision in them that will also kill your sound due to copyright laws and stuff but main thing check all wires coming in to receiver and if you need more inputs go to walmart and get a rca splitter basicaly its a 1 in two out connection to add more cables in the input

SOURCE: I have had the Kenwood VR-407 since 2001. I also

Most TV stations you watch don't send a surround sound mix so you won't get anything in the back speakers. DVDs generally all have a surround mix which is why it sends to all speakers. What you are experiencing is normal, Bob.

SOURCE: I have a Kenwood 1060vr

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead

NO SOUND OUT OF RECIEVER, TURN VOLUME TO MAX AND CAN HARDLY HEAR ANYTHING

TURN THE VOUME CONTROL DOWN TO SOMETHING REASONABLE. MAX VOLUME IS ONLY USED TO DESTROY SPEAKERS.

Unmute it, de-select Tape Monitor, de-select M.Input.

Kenwood 107VR rec and No vol from Sub Output w/ menu Opt On

In the setup menu are the speakers set to large or small? On some receivers if you have it set to large all the bass is directed to the right-left fronts.
On my pioneer receiver if the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out only works if the receiver is in a surround mode, if its in stereo mode and the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out is dead. If the speakers are set to small the sub-pre-out works all the time.
Also, some receivers won't send a signal to the sub-pre-out if there is no LFE discreet signal info from the dolby digital or dts bitstreem.
For example I have several older dvd's that light up the L C R SL SR icons on my receiver, but don't light up the LFE icon. I have other older dvd's that just light up the L and R icons meaning they are only recorded in stereo like a vhs tape recorded in dolby surround.
In my basement I also have a kenwood dolby digital receiver.
I've noticed that when a dvd only lights up the left and right icons the pioneer will automatically switch to dolby pro logic surround. The kenwood will only send the signal to the left and right fronts (stereo). If I manually switch it (kenwood) to dolby pro logic I'll get sound from all the speakers just like the pioneer, but it does'nt do it by itself.
Most receivers that have a tape monitor won't work in surround mode with the tape monitor on. The pioneer will let me use the tape monitor with dolby pro-logic but won't pass through a dolby digital signal with the monitor on.
Hope this helps.

No audio

Check all the push buttons and switches on the front of the unit are set where they should be set. In particular the speaker and tape monitor buttons. If there is a "pre out" "main in" set of jacks in the back of the unit, then be sure it is jumpered with stubs or if that unit uses a switch to perform the jumpering function be sure it is enabled. I hope this helps you.
