Cannot get kodak m1063 to work with windows 2000. windows says i need drivers. cannot find drivers at mfr's web site. are there any?

Have you considered NOT using a driver? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Unfortunately Kodak does not support the M1063 for any Windows OS before XP with IE 6 or higher. Since the camera was released in 2008 (judging from the Amazon site availability information), this isn't surprising. Microsoft stopped providing regular support for 2000 in 2005 (extended support for W2K SP4 continued until last year).

I wish that I had better news for you.

I'll second k_akima's suggestion of looking at the memory card with your Windows 2000 computer. You'll need to check the Kodak manual for transferring any photos from the internal memory to the memory card.

I have windows 2000 on my computer so I cannot download the easyshare software. I have a card reader but I have no program to open the pictures in. I may also be missing a necessary driver, but don't know...

Once the card is plugged into the card reader, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Easyshare M1063 Digital Camera We received as Christmas present. Went to use it and it shuts off as soon as we turn it on.

This is normally a sign of weak/worn out batteries, and it's not uncommon for a camera to come with bad batteries. Make sure that your batteries are fresh/fully charged (HINT: you might try them in another device to make sure that they're good) and that your charger is working properly. Corrosion shouldn't be a problem on a new camera, but check the battery contacts inside the camera to make sure that they're clean. If you still can't get the camera working I suggest that you contact Kodak customer service via the Kodak.com web site or return the camera to the point of purchase.

Cannot transfer without software

Try using Scanners and camera from the Control panel, but you have to switch the drivers from Easyshare Software to Windows.
You can do this on the Device Manager, Update dirvers, then always choose the last option, then select Digital Still Camera sa a driver, make sure that the camera is connected while doing this.
