I f like most faucets it will have a aerator its at the end of the spout unscrew & clean...that should do the trick ';';';
I should have mentioned tha I already checked the aerator and it was clean. I ran the water without the aerator attached to make sure and pressure was low. Since submitting the question, I took out the diverter which was very easy - just unscrew the base of the spout, pull out spout and unscrew the aerator. I flushed the areator and also sent a narrow screwdriver down the center shaft to clear any debris. After reassembling the pressure was better, but still no great winner. If I left out the diverter, the pressure was really good. The only difference would be in using the sprayer. With the sprayer on, the water still comes out of the faucet because there is no diverter to direct one way or the other. The diverter is too restrictive in water flow to the faucet spout, but does allow good pressure to the sprayer, which is used only rarely.
Glad your getting it worked out.. good luck...';
