Open the System Profiler on the Mac and establish if the camera is connected to the Mac's firewire BUS. If not, try another cable and also test is the camera's firewire port is working. It's either a cable or socket issue. Some cameras require that the menu of the camera be set to output over firewire, check this as well.
Hi there -I am experiencing the same problem. It worked fine over the weekend when my brother in law used it and now as I try to connect it to upload footage to my MAC, it is not being detected! I have no idea what has happenned.. Previously, I would simply connect my firewire and it would be automatically picked up. I have quizzed folk involved and they assured me they did nothing at all but like me, just connected the firewire into the back of their mac. They had no problems. I asked to make sure they had not been rough with it to cause a lose connection and they said no. To back up I connected the USB cable but this is not being picked up either. I see by your comment about setting the output to over firewire but I have no idea how to do this... Do you know what the problem is here and can you help? With many thanks! Tracey
USB will only trnasfer still photos taken with the camera and will not work for video.
You must use a firewire cable.
Check that the System Profiler can see you camera on the firewire tree. If you don't know to do this find someone who can. This will establish if the sockets and or cable are OK.
