How to hook up fuel lines - Husqvarna 28cc Gas Line Trimmer

change the fuel lines over on the carby
you are trying to feed fuel through the primer line when the engine is running and that is why it is cutting out

go to sears and purchase the fuel filter and fuel line kit for the chainsaw. in that kit will have a hook that you fish through the outside of the tank to the inside, you attach the new fuel line after attaching the fuel line to the fuel filter, to the hook, then pull it through the hole. disconnect the hook from the fuel line, cut the small piece off where the hook made the hole and attach to the carburetor. finish by pushing in the fuel filter inside the fuel tank. the kit will also have more detailed instructions and possibly with illustrations. if sears doesnt have the kit, check with a lawnmower repair shop.

I will also include a fuel routing drawing.
Before you remove any fuel lines, make a drawing or take a picture of how the lines are connected to the tank for later reference.
You will need to remove all the old fuel lines and fuel filter out of the gas tank.
After you have all the fuel lines and filter removed.
You need a piece of wire...smaller diameter than the inside of the fuel line, insert the wire into the fuel line until it exits the fuel line then bend a hook on the end of the wire to hook over the fuel line.
You will lubricate about 1 inch of fuel line with a small amount of vasoline or light machine oil...
Now using your fingers or small needle nose pliers collapse the fuel line around the wire hook and insert it into the hole in the fuel tank.
After you have the fuel line in the tank, extend enough fuel line into the tank to exit the fill spout of the tank and remove the wire from the fuel line.
You will insert the new or cleaned fuel filter into the line and pull the fuel line to pull the filter just back into the tank.

Those are broken fuel lines your are seeing and a fuel filter inside of the tank

Use a piece of wire and insert it into the fuel line, then bend a hook in the end and hook it over the end of the fuel line...lubricate the fuel line with some vaseoline very lightly...about the first one inch of the fuel line and then use your fingers to start the fuel line into the tank, once you have the fuel line in the tank give enough to hook the fuel filter to and so it can be dropped back into the tank.
Below is a drawing of how to route the fuel lines.

I will also include a picture of the routing of the fuel lines.

Make a wire with a small hook in the end and reach into the fuel tank and grab the wire with the hook and pull the line and filter out of the tank.
Now is a good time to clean or replace the fuel filter.
After you have the fuel filter and fuel line removed from the fuel tank you will insert a wire into the fuel line and bend a small hook at the end over the new fuel line that your going to insert into the fuel tank,lubricate the outside of the fuel line (about an inch) with vasoline.
Now you will push the fuel line into the tank using your fingers to start the line in the hole and also pushing a the same time on the fuel line.
Once you have the fuel line in the tank move it to the fill hole and remove the wire from the inside of the fuel line and attach the filter and drop it back in the fuel tank.

How do the fuel lines hook up to the carburetor, huh? Well...it's not too complicated. Small diameter line coming out of fuel tank goes directly to the carb on the fuel pump end..(end opposite the one with hole in the cover). The larger line coming out of the fuel tank goes to the longer nipple on the purge/primer bulb. The other line coming off of the carburetor (on the end with the hole in the cover) goes to the shorter nipple on the purge/primer bulb. The purge bulb "pulls" air and old fuel out of the carb thus allowing fresh fuel to flow in from the fuel tank and then it "pushes" this mixture of air/old fuel back to the fuel tank.

You may have accidently hooked the lines to the purge button wrong. The purge button (primer button) should have a short stem and a long stem. The short stem is the suction side of the primer button and should be hooked up to the return on the carburetor. You actually s*uck gas through the carb and not from the tank. The carb should have two hook ups. If you hook the fuel line up to one of the lines on the carb and the button is hard to push and doesn't return to normal, hook the line up to the other one. When you push the primer button gas should be pulled through the carb. The other line on the carb goes back to the fuel tank.

yes, the breather line hooks to the petcock on the line facing the back, the fuel line hooks to the larger one. the line from the breather is actually a vacume line that turns on the fuel, without it you will not get fuel out of the petcock unless it is in the prime position.

usually there where 3 lines from the gas tank one is the breather,main line,and the reserve line..just try to trace the line
