I have two older (2002) model cordless Uniden phones that require the handsets to return to their original factory bases. If they have rested on another Uniden base, even of the same model, there is no dialup tone. Replace to the original base and you should be back in service.

My landline is not working at all. I reported it was not working food yesterday, not at all today

Please understand that you are talking to regular people who offer advice, not to the company that provides your phone service. Contact the provider directly for service. In the mean time, try plugging in a different telephone handset to the wall jack, just to make sure it is not your phone set itself.

AT&T Design Line Telephone 146 - static on line

Check the cord from the phone to the handset - wiggle both ends to see if you get more noise. Could be a bad connection or bad cord.

My huawei ascend m860 wont charge. when i plug in the charger nothing happens. it was working fine yesterday and last night it wouldnt charge up. today i bought a new phone charger and it still wouldnt...

This happened to me too, you have to take your phone back to who you bought it from so they can repair it. Its the chip inside the phone that is bad. Not the charger.

Just bought phone no dial tone i move the setting to pulse

First thing to try is another phone in the wall jack if it doesn't work either you need to call your phone company. If the other phone works, make sure that the telephone is getting power from the AC electrical outlet. Try swapping the telephone cord with another cord. and lastly, unplug the battery from teh handset and plug it back in untill you feel it click into place. Sometimes the new battery connections are pretty tight and may not really be connected even though it looks like it is plugged all the way in.

I bought a Uniden cordless phone, put the batteries in (it has 4 remote bases) and charged it for 20 hours as instructed. I tried calling it on my cell phone but I'm not getting s response. The display...

Double check that the telephone cord is firmly plugged into the back of the cordless phone base, the wall outlet, the outlet where the telephone modem is and at the L1/L2 jack on the back of the telephone modem. Your phone is not getting the dial tone line voltage from the telephone modem to the cordless base. There might be a short in the wiring. (It is unclear as to whether you are setting an old phone into this new base or swapping out and using another base with the old phone. Irregardless, the problem would seem to be not in the phone but ratther narrowed to the cord between phone modem and phone base. That is a very good reason to check how firmly the cord is plugged in.

My Magic 5 Fax/phone machine is no longer recognising the cordless phone that came with it and while I can get the cordless handset into registration mode, the device (base station) will not register it...

See if your cordless phone will work when plugged directly into the wall jack.If it does then plug a regular phone into the faxes phone connector, EXT jack. See if you can make a call. If you can plug the cordless in again to the EXT jack on the fax machine. In order for the fax switch to function, the machine must
be first in the series if multiple devices are connected to the
same telephone socket. Follow the correct order

If you have multiple telephone sockets for the same
telephone line, the machine must be connected to
the first telephone socket.

If you still get the error I recommend a servicecall to the manufractorer

Home telephone wiring

Your wiring could be a mess of splicing, jumpers, additions over the years. It's impossible to know (or to really be able to help you) without being there in person.

Typically, you just have to worry about the red and green wires. The black and yellow are for a second line. This is of course only if you have standard 2 pair wiring.

If any work has been done recently I would concentrate on that area. If just one jack is removed or a wire cut by mistake that could easily take out your entire house. Also, if the red and green wires are touching anywhere that would also cause a problem.

"searching" message even when handset on the base

Found the following in AT&Ts FAQs for your phone, I'll leave only what might be relevant: # Charge the handset for 12 hours. After the first charge, the battery will quick charge in only 8 hours. Re-cradle the handset nightly for recharging. The battery will not overcharge. # Connect telephone line from base to unit to modular telephone jack. If cord is already plugged in, unplug and reconnect at both ends. Also, you may want to try another cord from a working telephone. See the owner's manual under "Connecting to Phone Line." (you can get the manual here on the product page in case you lost it) # Try a working phone at the jack. If another phone has the same problem in that jack, the phone jack is defective. Good luck, hope you work it out
