Hi, Our washing maching filled up just fine and then started agitating the clothes...I was in the other room when I heard a very loud crash like noise to come out and find the washing machine is no longer moving and is making a clicking noise. I tried turning the dial to see if it will drain or start back up and all I get is the clicking noise. Don't know what to do? I hope there is an easy way to fix it, as the economy stinks and money is low. Thank you so much for your time and help. (We have the Kenmore Model 20722-990

First thing to check would be to see if the lid switch went bad simply by clicking the switch and listening or takeing a wire and unplugging the actual switch and jumping with the wire from the first connection spot to the third this by passes the lid switch try to start the unit when this is achieved.if the unit still does not turn on here is a video of how to open the unit in the begining of this video http://www.youtube.com/user/RepairClinic?v=9K1KHEogf3c&feature=pyv&ad=5453897861&kw=whirlpool%20coupler&gclid=CNmDuYeGzagCFUff4AodWDxRhA
after you get the cabinet off as to the clicking noise if its during the spin cycle then you would follow through the entire video to replace the drive coupler this is step by step instruction in this video of how to check the drive coupler and how to replace if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation also if you find the drive coupler is not broken message me back as well and I will diagnose your issue further Thanks again Rick
btw drive coupler goes for about 10-14 dollars and you can find it at this place click here http://www.allbrandonline.com/

Replaced the clutch and motor coupler a month ago. Ran great. Washed tennis shoes. Came in to remove clothes, didn't spin. Wont agitate or spin, i could hear the motor running. Just replaced the motor...

Check for a failed capacitor under the control panel It is a start/run capacitor that the motor needs to start running. The motor will hum and if left will eventually burn out.

Hotpoint VBSR2080WOWW washing machine vibrates with loud noise

hi,
this is a generic problem with top-loading washing machines. when the distribution of load is not uniform, it gives sound when spinning. if it produces noise even after equal distribution of clothes, the problem lies in the suspension. this is not a major fault, and can be put up with, rather than spending dollars on fixing it. this will in no way cause any special wear and tear for the machine.

NAV5800a top loader washer

The inside of your agitator became worn, and possible strip out the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. The loud noise mustly occurs during the spin cycle. If you hear this loud noise your load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.
