H P printer 2175 all in one---when it is turned on, a little bell sounds near the computer and the printer starts clicking, continues to click and the 3 lights, copy-scan and ink flash and then the clicking stops , the lights stay on and the message is scanner failure. I have unplugged it, reset it and does the same thing

If you are getting a sound from the pc, check in your taskbar for any notifications or icons to do with the printer and see what they are alerting you to.

When turning power ON, a clicking noise coming

Sounds like the scan assembly is worn out. If you lift the cover where you lay a copy and watch the scanner after youpower up, you might see the scanner just clicking back and forth, which means the lamp is worn out or dirty. Repairs in that case are more than the machine is worth.

Dont know much about computers...

On Windows XP, start/control panel/add or remove programs/find your printer software/click on change/remove and remove.

Reboot.

start/printers & faxes/find your printer/right click on it/delete

unplug the printer

Reboot

once the pc has rebooted, plug in the printer. Windows should find the printer and ask for a driver. Insert your software CD and try again!
