Unfortunately Photosuite 7 is not compatible with Windows 7. It was supported for Windows 2000 and XP.

You can upgrade to the latest Roxio product, http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/allproducts.html?rTrack=m_pro_all . I think you need the Creator 2011. (Creator 2010 is also WIndows 7 compatible with the installation of a patch from Roxio.)

If you have Windows7 32-bit (click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System for the details), you can try using the compatibility mode. Right click on the installer and select Properties. Then choose the Compatibility Tab. Select Run as Compatible with XP (I am not certain which SP option is best - I know the initial release is listed as SP1). Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator. Then check if the program is running in the compatibility mode. This may not work (it will not work with the 64-bit version at all).

If you have the 64-bit version of the OS or if the compatibility mode fails, you need a work-around. Your option is to run a computer with an older version of Windows. This can be a virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install your Photosuite Platinum software in the XP mode (as you would if it were a stand-alone machine). It will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them. Also your printer can not be installed on both the real and virtual machines at the same time.

I hope this helps.

Cannot install MGI PhotoSuite4 on a computer running Windows 7 OS

The PhotoSuite 4 program is very old and won't work under Windows 7. http://sonic.net/mnitepub/pccafe/reviews/photosuite4/photosuite4.html says that the version 4 Platinum edition ran under Win95-Win2000 versions of the Windows OS. Thus even the compatibility mode probably won't help under Windows 7 32-bit. You can try it though by right clicking on the installer and then selecting Properties. In the Compatibility Mode tab, select Always Run this program in the compatibility mode and an older version of Windows. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. (You may have to do this again on the program itself.) Since Win7 64-bit requires signed drivers or programs, it is not as likely to work. (Check your version of Windows 7 by clicking Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the title of your OS ends with x64, you have the 64-bit OS. Otherwise, you have the 32-bit OS.)

If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate (or upgrade to one of those versions), you can run a virtual version of XP for free. Download and install Microsoft's Virtual PC and then XP mode (in order). This works best if your CPU supports virtualization and you enable the feature in your computer's BIOS. (There are work-arounds for computers without virtualization. See the MS support pages.) Install your PhotoSuite inside the virtual XP program in that case. This old software may run in that case. (However, I've had some Win2K software that ran under XP with the compatibility mode but didn't run under the virtual XP. Note: virtual computers do have some additional limitations. They do not talk to the host hard drive and other hardware directly. (You can install a printer on the host machine or the virtual machine but not both.) You'll need to save files on external media (flash drive, optical disc or other hard drive) to transfer them between the machines).

Another option is to run an older version of Windows on another computer, as a dual boot computer or with Virtual PC (or another virtual computer package - VMWare or Parallels). In that case, you need a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Again install the program while running the older OS.

The final option is to upgrade to a Windows 7 compatible Photo editor and organizer. (Even the Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery has some of the features of Photosuite SE.)

I hope this helps.

I need free mgi photosuite se for 64 bit windows 7

If you have the original CD's then follow next:

Just today I was able to get PhotoSuite 4 to work in Windows 8. PhotoSuite 4 (P.S. 4) is dependent upon Internet Explorer 5 (I.E. 5) browser for its content/software to work. The original P.S. 4 CD has
I.E. 5 installer, I tried to install and the install quit with a check box to force install of all components. Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 was not affected in any way, that's how I got back here anyway.
I have read ton's of suggestions and one mentioned I.E. Browser dependency and walla it was the answer that took me ten minutes to get it up and running. P.S. 4 worked in windows 7 (update), not full install for me so I assume original I.E 5 files were replaced full install windows 8.
Good luck!

Windows 7 not compatable with photosuite 7platinum is there a patch? thanks, carol-b

Hi Carol,

I'm going to have to assume you have the standalone version of Photosuite, and not the version that comes with Easy Media Creator 7.

I don't know for sure if this will solve your problem, but try downloading this update:

http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/photosuite/software_updates.html

As a side note, if this doesn't solve your problem, could you elaborate on what you mean by Windows 7 isn't compatible? As in what happens when you try to run it?

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any further questions.

Good Luck :)

Running MGI Photosuite version 8.05 in Vista

MGI Photosuite on Vista, THE FINAL SOLUTION!!! First you need to get hold of an MGI disc or a download. I have been trying to get MGI Photosuite III SE to install on Vista for months without success and then when I thought I'd finally sorted it I could not launch the program due to a script error. You do not need Virtual PC, Virtual XP or any add-ons. Simply find and right click the the MGI setup file, check the run in compatibility mode as Windows XP SP2 and install. After install, send a program launch shortcut to your desktop, right click, go to properties and check the Windows XP compatibility mode once again. Finally, while you still have the compatibility screen open add a tick check to Run As Administrator. Hey presto my beloved MGI Photosuite is back! MGI is fantastic for being user friendly and simple, and although I know other users insist there are better programs, I’ve tried loads and I still think it’s a winner.

Download and install adobe reader for manual, if needed
use Get Adobe Reader button on this page

Manual link (two choose based on directions)

No assurances there are that either link to provided software is applicable to your version however generally updaters will not update the incorrect software. There is also no notation that these are or are not Vista Compatible.
