Two problems: No regulation of heating. No matter the temp setting, the outcome is always hot. Dryness sensor will not work. Are these repairs that I can do, or should a repairman be called?

you can do it but before we start disconect the dryer duct and run it to see if the duct is cluge and full with lint make sure the air comming out from the house is in the same presure that it come out directly from the dryer.
in the unit there it thermo fuse and it is on the air vent duct that come out from the vent. what model you got i give you the part # and the location.

My Kenmore dryer seems to have a mind of it's own on heating. Sometimes it heats very hot, sometimes little heat at all. It does not seem to matter what setting it is on, low, med, or high. Nor does it...

when was the last time you cleaned it out,try running it with the vent line removed, you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow off the motor and clean out the vent line and the outside vent,if the vent line is long i use a leaf blower to clean out the vent line, also is it gas or electric?next time send model number?if it's gas you could have bad gas coils, when they heat up they fail, clothes are warm at end of cycle.run the dryer for 15 to 30 minutes and check to see if the flame is still lighting if not bad gas coils.hope this helps

The gas dryer is not getting hot enough to dry clothes have to run it double the time to get clothes dry-exhaust not blocked-igniter is working-there is a flame-checked dryer heat setting manual knob with...

You might want to replace the thermacouplar. Sometimes when they are going out , all will appear to be alright but as you stated it takes a long time for the flame to come back on. This sounds to me like the thermacouplar is going out.

Electric dryer only has hot air, or air dry

This is one of those problems that could be a number of issues. It could be a timer contact stuck in a hot condition, it could be the operating thermostat inside the unit, or if you have a heat cycle selector switch, it may have shorted as well. Each one of these items should be tested with an ohm meter to verify which one of them is the bad part. Let me know if you need further help.
