1. Open the top front cover of the printer. If the display DOES NOT read Close cover or Insert cartridge, the 32 error is not caused by the toner cartridge and printer service will be required to fix the problem.

2. Make sure the correct toner cartridge is installed for this printer model.
1. Check Lexmark for a list of compatible cartridges for your printer.
2. If the wrong toner cartridge is installed, remove it and install the correct one.

3. If the correct toner cartridge is installed, it may not be seated correctly. To ensure that this is not the cause of the error, do the following:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Reseat the toner cartridge.
3. Close the lid.
4. Power the printer back on and check the display.

4. If reseating the toner cartridge does not clear the error message and the error started as soon as you installed this particular toner cartridge, the cartridge may be broken. You can check this as follows:
1. Power off the printer and then reinstall the old cartridge. (You can also try a different new cartridge to see if that clears the error.)
2. If the error does disappear, the problem may lie with this cartridge. Please contact the point of purchase, especially if the cartridge is brand new out of the box.

5. If the error cannot be cleared by putting in a new toner cartridge or one that is known to be working, the printer may require service to fix the problem.

Cartridges error on a lexmark

Error: "Invalid Toner Cartridge"; Error: "Invalid Refill"; Message: "Change Cartridge"
Solution
One of these error messages may appear on the printer display immediately after or shortly after a new toner cartridge is installed into the printer. Note: This may not be specifically a toner cartridge problem; the error may be due to a stuck cover open switch on the printer.

To see if the cover open switch is the cause of this problem, open the top front cover and observe the message on the printer's display panel. The display should read Close Door or Insert Cartridge.

If this message is not displayed, the top cover open sensor and switch will need to be replaced. In addition, the printer may have damaged the new toner cartridge. If the cover open sensor is not operating properly, a new cartridge can be incorrectly flagged as a refilled cartridge by the printer. If this happens, the new cartridge will continue to cause an Invalid Refill or Invalid Cartridge error even if you try reinstalling it or installing it into another printer. If this should occur, please contact the point of purchase of the cartridge to find out how to get the cartridge replaced.

Caution: If the cover open sensor is not operating, do not install another new toner cartridge until you have completed the directions below. Inserting another new cartridge can cause that cartridge to stop working as well. Should this situation arise, please take the following actions:

Place the original working cartridge (the empty or near-empty one) back into the printer. This should clear the error message.

Turn the printer off. Doing this will disengage the cover open sensor.

With the printer switched off, open the top lid and remove the old toner cartridge.

Now replace the old cartridge with another new Lexmark toner cartridge.

Power the printer back on. The printer should now read this cartridge as a newly installed toner cartridge and the error should be cleared. The printer and toner cartridge should function properly now, but the top cover sensor on the printer will still need to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty or covered under a service contract, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or your service provider for further recommendations and instructions. Until you can get the cover open switch replaced, remember to have the printer powered off whenever you replace the toner cartridge.

If the top cover switch appears to be working fine, or if you have followed the above steps and your printer continues to post an Invalid Toner Cartridge or Invalid Refill error, make sure you are using a new original Lexmark toner cartridge. A toner cartridge remanufactured or refilled by a third party can cause this error.

To help identify a refilled cartridge, look for the yellow label attached to the toner drum and the body of the toner cartridge. If this is damaged or removed, the cartridge may have been refilled.

If you are using a third-party refilled or remanufactured toner cartridge, it is recommended that you install a new Lexmark brand toner cartridge. Lexmark cannot guarantee the compatibility of any third-party toner cartridges with our printers.

OR

1 Switch on the Lexmark X83 printer.

2 Lift open the cartridge door at the front of the device, below the scanner unit. The printer automatically moves the cartridge carrier to the correct position.

3 Pull each ink cartridge toward you to unclasp it from the carrier. Lift the cartridge out of the cartridge carrier.

4 Clean the copper contacts on the bottom of each cartridge with a clean, dry lint-free cloth. Use a gentle, circular motion to clean the contacts.

5 Insert the ink cartridges back into the cartridge carrier. Push back firmly on each cartridge until it snaps into place.

6 Repeat each step in this procedure again. Close the cartridge door.

My Lexmark 4350 wont recognise a new colour cartridge why?

Please make sure the back plate is clean inside your printer. That the place where to contact points sits. Check the back of the cartridge aswell to insure all contacts are clean. If it still comes up with the error change the cartridge otherwise its a board or caridge wich you cant get new spares for.

'Left cartridge incorrect' error message. Have tried changing the cartridge, cleaning the cartridge, running a flush cartridge etc but will not recognise the cartridge and so will not print. is it...

These printers monitor the cartridges and dont like you using aftermarket ie non Lexmark, or not made by lexmark cartridges. So Im wondering If you have tried 2 x brand spanking new OEM Lexmark cartridges, or if you are trying to use cheaper from net remanufactured or "for use in lexmark" cartridges. If this is the case then this is your problem and also very common.

Are you using a photo cartridge and a normal color one?

These I beleive can not be mixed in different slots.
- Photo cartridges you will only need one installed on the left side.
- Normal ink you will need two installed (Black on left and color on right) .

Also Lexmark themselves have a couple of documents on this issue, here and Here

But these efforts will all be useless unless you are using Brand New Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM) Cartridges. This I see day in and day out, I get a lot of people tell me they are using original when they are not in fact, You will know by the price and lexmark carts do not state "for use in"

I dont think it is a problem with the printer, if you are using both brand new OEM cartridges then the firmware fix from lexmark should solve or you are trying to mix Photo type and normal type carts.

But these days ink jet printers are non repairable (well too costly and uneconomical to repair) throw away items, the expense is in the inks and manufactures vertually give away the printers so you will buy their inks, and lexmarks are designed not to like refill and aftermarket inks as are most modern inkjets.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you are using real ink and have tried the firmware fix and still are having issues, but all i probally end up telling you is buy another and welcome to our disposable way of life;)

Steve

I have a Lexmark P6250 all-in-one printer. Two brand new Lexmark ORIGINAL cartridges are installed: black in the left slot, color in the right slot. The printer keeps displaying the error message...

Maybe try to remove the color cartridge, and blow the contacts out using compressed air from a can, in order to clean any dust on it.

If this doesn't work, then maybe the printer needs servicing at a Lexmark service center. The warranty is only 12 months and this printer is no longer produced.

For further explanation of your warranty alternatives and the nearest Lexmark authorized servicer in your area, contact Lexmark at (800) 332-4120 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (800) 332-4120

It may turn out that getting a new replacement printer of any brand is the most economical alternative after exploring repair options, if the printer is no longer produced by the manufacturer and has been discontinued.

If cartridges are not original or are refilled, use new original cartridges.

If the cartridges are new and original, try cleaning the metal sensor inside the cartridge carriage.

Lexmark T62 Error 32- Unsupported print cartridge

Hi Sue,
Firstly, switch on the printer without a cartridge inside. Put in the old cartridge and if you get the Error 32, it could be poor contact. Clean the contacts in the printer (contact with the chip on the cartridge). If you don't get Error 32, there could be a problem with the chip contacts on the new OEM Lexmark cartridge or a faulty chip. As for other brands or remanufactured cartridges, it could be compatible parts they used. The chip and toner wheel have to be compatible.
Good luck.
