Samsung hl-r5078w flickering - higher resolution is worse

Hi,

I ordered a refurbished Samsung hlr5078w dlp tv and it flickers when displaying an HD picture mostly. It flickers less when using an S-Video connection and much worse when using HDMI or Component. So basically the higher the resolution the more flicker. The company we ordered it from said that there was a new bulb installed before the tv was shipped. Does this sound like a bad bulb or clorwheel?? or?? I'm lost.. I have unplugged the TV, Over the air HD also flickers badly.. the tv starts up pretty quick and there is no humming noise..

This problem is caused by what I beleive is a the dimming circuit. Most TV's will dim the brightness output in a dark room and brighten in a well lit room. There is a circuit that does this for you, and this circuit gets faulty after a year or so, (Bad capacitors probably) Samsung is aware of this problem and there is a fix. Just open up the back of the TV and cut jumper on the power supply (Upper right as you look from the back of the TV) named JP852 on the 46" and JP852 on the 55". If the jumper is not labelled as such. Do not cut it. To check if this fix will work for you. Go into your settings and turn picture to eco mode (economy mode) and the picture stop flickering will stay solid for about 20 mins. If this is the case.. Go ahead and cut the jumper. This procedure takes about 10 mins.. Here is a youtube video on how to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-jQZ-TQdgU

Help please. Samsung DLP no picture just audio

Hi,Is your tv close to 6000-8000 hrs 2-4 yrs.If its it might be time to replace the lamp.Your part # is XL2200 Make sure you get the Philips lamp. There's other components that tend to go bad like the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. When that is bad it will make continuous clicking noises or attempts to light up the lamp. But if you dont hear any of that then most likely its just the lamp that needs to be replaced.Have a blessed one!

Dlp has no picture only flickering lamp & timer lights.

Verify color wheel is reconnected, color wheel needs to get up to speed before lamp strikes

DLP TV keeps flickering

Please recheck component connections in both units and make sure to hook up them according to corresponding colors like blue to blue, red to red and orange to orange.

Noise from Samsung rear projection DLP HD TV.

this noise is an indication of a bad color wheel. aa dlp uses a mechanical motor to spin a coloered segment disk. this turn the white light of the lamp into your colors of pictures. Now anything that moves will eventally break. the flickering is also an indication of a color wheel going bad. eventally this will cause the set to shut down. Color wheels can be replaced. i dont know your model so i am not sure of the exact replacement procedure. at my shop we charge average 250 for such a repair

Dlp problem

The unit has a defective light tunnel contained within the light engine. This part is not easily replaced and you will a qualified tech to replace it. Many service centers condemn the light engine at a much hight cost. Do not buy or let someone tell you the light engine must be replaced. This repair requires only the light tunnel.
