This model does not have a slide or lever to lower the feed dogs. Instead, it has a little metal plate that you clip onto the rotary hook cover to cover the feed dogs. It should be in your accessory kit if it is complete, its about the size of a postage stamp, rectangular with little legs at each corner. Clip it into the four holes on the hook cover and away you go. If you are doing free motion embroidery you'll need the special foot too also shown in the image below.
You can also contact a Janome dealer. If the machine does not drop the feed dogs, there should be a special plate accessory to cover them in order to do darning or free motion quilting.

Failing that, I would suggest you contact your Elna headoffice; start at www.elna.com, go to your country, then the "contact us" page to find the head office details. They should be able to tell if if the manual is available and how much.
