Please try following steps:-
1) Check if your printer is power on
2) Cross check the usb cable
3) try changing the usb ports on laptop / desktop
if nothing works 99% your printer is not working
Type in your model ie:X5470 and you can download the drivers for your operating sytem right from the Lexmark web page. I asume the the machine is using USB to print, so download the driver and install it, then plug the USB cable from the printer into your computer and windows will do the rest.
Your printer comes with two interface, USB and Network (Ethernet). The USB is standard port provided. Ethernet is optional.
You must connect the USB cable provided to USB port in your PC.
If your PC does not have USB port, then you need to purchase USB extension for your PC. However, older PC which does not have USB normally running old Operating System that does not support USB either. So, better replace your PC, if you want to use the printer.

check your power cable , eathing. smps check *********** bord dont touch the cabinet.i think u have motherbord grounding or your power suply of pc has pro.
i had the same problem but if you open the Lexmark All-In-One center (can be found in start --> all programs --> lexmark 5400 series --> all-in-one center) and select scan (it will work)
if you dont have the program installed find your installation disk and when u re-install it, it should come up again
