Auto lock not threaded

Hello,

I have had a lot of trouble with my Panasonic AG-DVC30 Mini DV camera this past weekend. Every few seconds a message would come up on the screen saying "Auto lock not threaded" and then it would stop recording and a blue screen would come up. I would have to turn the camera off and then on again in order to record. Is it broken or is there a simple solution?

Sounds like the threading mechanism isn't able to completely thread the tape. there may be something obstructing the travel of one of the threading arms that pulls the tape around the head.

Panasonic AG DVC30 purchased on ebay. Getting horizontal lines during playback, not seen during recording. VERY new camera, only a few hours recording time. Tried reset button and head cleaning tape, still...

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair cost low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Problem with DV output on ag-dvc30

It is possible that you have a faulty firewire port or cable that is sending electricity through one of the pins that is not designed to handle it. If one of the six pins at one end of a cable is bent, for example, it can electrocute whatever is at the other end.
It's been a while now - did you ever get this problem solved?

Only one channel when using my xlr adapter in AG-DVC30

XLR cables only carry one channel. There is an option in your camera to split into two channels - enable it, or split into two channels in post. To record left and right from the DVX using XLR cables, you'll need one for left, and one for right.

Good luck.

Converting vhs tapes to computer using camcorder

I think it's possible if you change a setting on your camcorder.  Turn your camera on to VCR and then hit the menu button.  Look at 4. AV In/Out Setup and make sure your DV Out is set to ON.  I think this will make it work.  If not, try changing your playback functions.  I think the problem either lies with the fact that the camera is using its RCA connections as outputs instead of inputs, or it's not sending the signal on to the VCR.
Hope this works for you -
