Need diagram for asus pro50n laptop to find location of cmos/bios battery laptop wont allow entery to setup page

Well, I haven't worked on a Compaq for a few years but they're one of the models that respond to having the CMOS battery removed.

Basically, remove battery, find location of CMOS battery (usually under memory cover or HDD cover) and disconnect or pull it out for 30 minutes and you should be back to factory defaults.

Hello a bios password is fairly easy to come buy.

Open the case, and locate the cmos battery on the mainboard:




Remove the battery for like 20 min, and insert the battery again.
This will clear the bios password.

But you have to setup the whole bios, boot setings, clock, date, etc, before the pc can run again.

It looks like the Bios jumper is located right next to the CMOS battery.

Try to remove the CMOS battery.

It appears that BIOS password it set on your computer, if you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps:

Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battery, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battery & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

Actually, if you do not know the password it is best not to guess because 3 wrong guesses would result to losing the data on your hard drive forever.

the simplest way to remove a bios setup utility password is by removing the cmos battery. computer will remember its settings and keep the time even when it is turned off and unplugged because these parts are powered by small battery inside the computer called a CMOS battery. If we pull out this battery, the computer will forget alot of its hardware settings, including its BIOS password. This should not be performed on Laptops if you are not experienced working with laptop hardware.

1. open up the computer case using a screw driver and locate the flat, circular and metallic CMOS battery. please refer to the picture below. Some computers have this part standing upright.



Once you have located it, observe how the latches are holding it. There are many different ways to remove a CMOS battery but the most common way on newer computers can be seen in the picture below.

2. Make sure to power down the computer, unplug the power cables and unplug any USB devices if they are powered. The computer must not be able to get power from anywhere for this to work. Take out the CMOS battery and wait 10 – 25 minutes before putting it back in. The reason for this wait is because the computer can still store power in its capacitors even though everything is unplugged. The waiting period allows enough time for them to discharge.

3. Plug everything back in, power up the computer and enter the BIOS again. If everything went well there should be no more password. In some cases, if you get weird error messages during bootup now, you will need to goto “Load BIOS Defaults” in BIOS and save the changes to fix them.

Your hard disk did not set your BIOS password. BIOS passwords are of little or no value to the average person and there is no reason to set one for a private owned computer. If you did set your password and then forgot it and now need into your setup - open the case, find the battery and remove it. Wait 5 minutes and reinstall it. Turn on your computer and the BIOS will reset itself to the original default settings. You will have to set the time.

The computer should show you a key to hit to enter the setup. Nomally the keys may be F2, F10, DEL, or some other key.
If your computer does not even give you any display, then you can't enter setup--it's failing the POST which means it won't work at all.
In a laptop, you could take it apart far enough to find the CMOS battery and disconnect it to reset the CMOS, but I'm thinking you might have a hardware problem here--like maybe a motherboard.
One thing you can do is unplug it, remove the battery, then reinstall the battery, plug it in and try again. In a laptop, anything further will require dissembling the case.

Yes, if you consult your motherboard manual this will show you the location of the cmos battery and reset jumpers. You can either move the jumpers from pins 1+2 to 2+3 and then back again after a few seconds or remove the cmos battery for a few seconds. Make sure your pc is off!
