I have a TruFlat RCA model # 27F520T have lost original remote and FPA lock is on how do I unlock without original remote? Dish universal remote not working to unlock tv, it will pull up menu but cannot change option on the menu. How do I unlock this feature?

First of all, you must ahve its original remote control to unlock FPA lock. If you have it, go through the folloing steps.
* Hold down Menu button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the at the same time for at least 4 seconds. "The set won't say so, but the lock will be released".
** Hold down Zero button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the TV. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released.
*** Hold down Menu button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released.

To unlock the FPA lock of an RCA tv; thry out the folloing methods. One amoung them will surley unlock your RCA TV. But you must have its original remote control to do this. If you haven't the same, try to get it from any of your friends or relatives, who own the same model TV; just to unlock your RCA TV. After unlock, you can use any universal remote control.

It will be very difficult to unlock RCA TVs without its orginal remote control handset. Anyway just try this, This is the actual proceedings to unlock the RCA TV with its original remote. If you fail to do this with your present universal remote control, just buy an new original one from RCA Authorised Service Center at tyour town, or just borrow it from any of your friends or relatives; just to unlock your set. After unlock, you can use the universal remote control. Just follow the proceedings given below. One amoung them must unlock your RCA TV.

Most RCA TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

1. Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
2. Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

Unfortunately, there is really no other way to unlock fpa other than using a remote control.

You can buy any universal remote control and this can be use to unlock fpa.

Using your remote, go to Menu, Preferences, FPA Lock and change it to OFF.

If you don't have the remote, you'll need to program a universal one that has a Menu button to access the menu.

just had the same problem... found the old RCA remote in my house... put new batteries in it...used RCA remote.... hit menu... arrow down to preferences and hit "ok" on remote.....use arrow again to go down to FPA lock and hit ok to turn it off, hope this helps, hit menu again to remove menu from your screen

here is my solution. somebody either needs to give me a solution without a remote or fuckin mail me a remote. and if i ever run into these RCA dipshits, ima beat some ***** *** for puttin the damn lock on there in the first place.

If you've lost the original remote there is nearly no possible way to unlock the unit. RCA built their PL so that the combination could be set and the parents would merely have to take the remote with them and it couldn't be changed...
As to the DVD I don't believe there is an input button on the face of the unit and I'm not real sure if you could find a universal that would allow that... Not even Miracle remote makes an alternative and their remoted are as good as the originals...

if you can bring up the menu try using the volume up / down and channel up/down on the remote to change your selection. that might work
