I'm running Windows XP. Using IE8, the youtube videos won't play. There is no warning or anything, just the video is black and there is no play button. On Google chrome, there is no problem with playing youtube videos. What can I do to play it on IE?

Well Sunkengarden, the videos you are watching on YouTube or any such websites are the Flash Player Applications. That means, the Browser on which you are trying watch the videos, needs Flash Player Application to be installed on your computer. Such traditionally most widely used flash players are Adobe Flash Player and Microsoft Silverlight.
While you are using Google Chrome, there is no problem just because of Google Chrome already have in-built flash player within it. But the problem remains for IE or other Browsers.
Different Web-Browsers use different types of Adobe Flash Players (IE type or Non-IE type). So, for best results, I recommend you to install both the IE and Non-IE Adobe Flash Players on your computer to have all the browsers play the videos without any problem.
Download the Flash Players by clicking on the following links:

Hope this helps,
Regards, Mrityunjay.

Try updating or install the latest flash player for your IE.

Download Flash Players
1. Flash Player 10.3.181.5 RC 1 (IE) - IE browser

2. Flash Player 10.3.181.5 RC 1 (Non-IE)

Hope it helps.

Youtube videos won't play

  1. Most YouTube videos need JavaScript enabled. If or when JavaScript is enabled try it again, and if that does not work make sure you have a plug-in.

Distorted sound playing music from Youtube or BBC Iplayer

First off, most Youtube videos have bad sound but most likely is you need to lower the volume for FLASH via the sound mixer. Both are using flash. Turn down the volume for flash videos. You also have volume control with the video themselves.

Hello, Every time I run some video on youtube by using IE 8 I've got filled cache progress bar (red line on the bottom of the player) but video is not dowloaded in real as I see "wait" picture...

1) Try to download and install the latest Flash Player (version 10.2) from:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. And then of course restart your browser.
2) If it still doesn't work, try different browsers: latest Firefox, Chrome, Safari.

It is likely your browser, try using a different browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. Internet Explorer has alot of known compatibility issues

The youtube video plays for 2 seconds

You may need to update your version of Adobe Flash.
GO TO http://www.Adobe.com and click on the "Get Adobe Flash Player" button on the right.
You must also be running windows XP or Vista. If you are using anything older you are out of luck.
MAC is a different story.
