I have a Soleus Dehumidifier (40 pint) and when I first purchased it and got it home, it was not collecting water. I phoned Customer Service and was advised to (1) unplug the unit (to reset?), then (2) plug it it again, (3) turn the unit on to Continuous cycle, (4) turn the power to High and (5) run for 24 hours. If the unit was still not collecting water, the units compressor may be bad.

I'm happy to say the unit began collecting water and the trick worked.

The following summer, when I turned the unit on for the first time I had the same problem of no water being collected. I went back and followed the above instructions (unplug, turn on high and and continuous) and it began collecting water again.

Personally, I think there is a flaw with their product but this solution has worked for me.

Good luck and I hope it works for you, too.

Oh, I forgot to add that when running the Soleus dehumidifier on continuous and high, you need to run the dehumidifier continuously for 24 hours.

How do i fix it so that it will collect water?

1st ck that your humidistat is set correcly and unit cycles the compressor on/off correctly ,Not just the cirulation fan running all the time , next ck your filters , clogged up filters wont allow air to pull thru unit , also are you sure room has enough moisture in it to pull water from, Most units wont draw a percievable amount of water out of air thats got less than 52%rh , as most homes target a 70%rH as normal

The fan on unit works fine but collects no water. It also gets quite hot on back.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. The problem with the unit is it could have a plugged up coil or there is not enough moisture in the air to collect a noticeable amount of water. It may be collecting water but it could be boiling off before its collected in the drip pan.

Water dripping outside the collector

I think that there is a 90 degree bend in the outlet on the bottom right front side of the collection tray that gets pluged with dirt, line etc. You can see this when you remove the collection container from the unit. I used a small piece of wire to clean out the hole and now the water goes into the tank and not onto the floor.

No water colledction

Check to see that the air is flowing freely through the dehumidifier. They will accumulate dust particles and become plugged. Also make sure that it is not freezing up (you would see ice forming inside through the vent openings). I have had to remove the case to clean lint from some units to get them to operate more efficently. Always unplug the unit to clean and service it.
