Samsung SyncMaster 226CW 22" Monitor Logo
Posted on Apr 27, 2011

My samsung 226bw (analog) monitor will not shut off. It goes black when the power button is pushed but then the analog square comes up and the screen is brought back up to where it was when I hit the button. I'm not good at this but feel like it might be the power button itself. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It is probably the power button itself, or there is something wrong with the power board inside the monitor, the capacitors are probably on their way out, in these monitors cheap capacitors are used and they seem to fail within 2-3 years, these can be replaced by a professional and would probably be cheaper than buying a new one. either way, if the picture on the monitor is OK, you could just switch it off at the socket or wait for it to go into power saving mode.

How do I turn off the Samsung sync-master p2050 monitor?

If it doesn't turn off by holding the power button down for 10 seconds, then it cannot be turned off by the power button alone, like most modern lcd monitors. Most modern monitors goes into standby mode. To completely cut power, you must unplug the power cable.
I've enclosed a link to the install manual for reference.

Samsung 226bw goes black after startup

Maybe the screen is just a faulty one. If you have a warranty for it, GET IT REPLACED. problem solved in my opinion. if you tried it on another computer it will be a problem with the monitor. take it in and get it checked out.

Samsung 226BW screen takes a long time to show anything

This model may have defective capacitors in the power supply. I normally replace the 2 or 4 bulging caps and normal function is restored.

Monitor goes black after running for a few minutes. Brand new 22 inch sceen.I prees the button to turn it on and it says Analog and goes black again. I have to shut down the computor to get it to come back...

Sounds like the computer is shutting it down and the monitor is fine. Check for viruses then check your settings in device manager for the screen saver and power down (screen off) options.

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.

Samsung 226bw weird display problems

At first you should clarify if your GPU or LCD is broken.
Do You have any chance to try another monitor with your Graphicadapter or to try your monitor on a different PC?
Moreover you should try it with a new cable.

The symptom of weird symbols sounds most likely like a overheated or wrong-plugged Graphicadapter

Syncmaster 226bw goes black

If you can still faintly see data on your screen, it will be a faulty backlight in the panel most likely.

LCD panels have fluorescent tubes in them that provide the light needed to see the data. If one of these goes faulty, the circuit that drives it will turn off ALL the backlights, giving you a black screen.
Note: a faulty circuit that drives the backlights will often give the same apparent fault.
You will need to take the monitor in for repair.
