Make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or the drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd drive restart your computer then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps

My xp computer will not recognize the dvdrw. under hardware devices it shows the driver but with a yellow tab. the device is a liteon dvdrw 160p6s. liteon says in docs that it uses pnp service and not...

There are 2 types of dvd-rw discs, dvd+rw and dvd-rw. Some drives, especially older ones (since you are using XP) only support certain types. I run XP as well and many DVD+RW discs do not work for me. If this is the case, drivers arent your issue, its simply a hardware flaw. I would try experimenting with a different format, whether its + or - (plus or minus)

Can not Find in "My Computer" the DVD RW and DVD

Are the power and data cables plugged in from the DVD-RW to the PC?
If cables are plugged in ans secure, download the driver and install it on your PC. You might need to restart after that.

I want to install it in my coputer but dont I dont have a disk, what can I do?

There is no need to install any software before/after connecting the LiteOn device,
because Windows XP/Vista/7 already contain the necessary device-drivers.

So, just connect it, and restart Windows, and it will be ready-to-use.

Windows Media Player can be used to play DVD-movies,
and Windows has built-in software to write onto CD-recordable disks.
