Have you played with the TV settings using the remote?

Here's some suggestions from this link:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/TV-VCR-Stereo-1749/RCA-TV-Won-t-2.htm

It says there:

Have you tried the channel up and down buttons? They should turn the set on, also.

Here is what I suggest.

ONE: Do a hard reset. This will clear any corrupted soft codes. Unplug the power cord for 4 hours. Then repower.

TWO: Study the owners manual. You can download if from the rca.com web site. There may be some instructions there that are pertinent.

THREE: If the power protection circuit has taken over the set due to some shorted conditions internally, then the hard reset should allow you to turn it back on but if the condition remains, it will just go into auto off again. This means there is a hardware problem that is locking up the protection circuit. Since there are so many possible areas in the set that can cause this, you will need a service tech to do the hands - on diagnosis for it.

FOUR: You can fix it once we know what exactly is wrong with it, but since there are so many possibilities, that is the first problem: Just finding out what is the real problem.

So, maybe these ideas will get you headed the right direction.

Now, if there is a lock on the power function, it will need to be reset; there is a resetting procedure in the owners manual, I think.

Dear sir/madam,

It may be a cold solder joint. If so, you could fix it by yourself. Have you done a loose connection test? Just bang the set with your hand or fist on the side,, back or top to see if you can restore the functionality. If so, then you might be lucky enough to keep in working. If not, you may have to go in and find the poor connection and solder it back down (or have it done). This is a minimal repair job once you have found the bad solder joint or loose connection.

thanks
good luck

The TV safety switch it is turning tv off because of a short or overvoltage, this can be caused ba a blown capacitor, an IC or another component on TV board, let me know if you get any error code.

    You will probably need to take your tv to a technician for repairs, as unit must be taken apart and component on board tested. You find service number printed on last pages of tv owner manual.

    Hey guys how do you know it is power supply or tube? there is no error code or flashing code published, please be serious....Regarding the user problem, check if there is a code on display, or if led blinks a certain number of times, so that we can understand where problem is located.

I need the make and model of your television.. usually the red light blinks out a code. i need to know how many times it blinks as well. so i can find out what code it is producing.

  • Anonymous Aug 10, 2008

    ok the RCA tech said that there is a short in one of the boards. you will need to take the t.v. in and have it repaired... Look on your owners manual to make sure that it is still under warranty. or you can buy a new t.v.

My Samsung TV doesn't show a picture, when there was a picture audio and remote not working. Which boards need replaced?

If there is no audio then most likely your main board. If your red power stand by light blinks less than 3 s then its the M/B. If its more than 3 s then its the P/B.

Sounds as though the system may have overheated. Do you regularly check the filters and clean them? An airduster can also help to blow dust out of hard to reach places.

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and getthe regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons togetherfor about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filtercover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cablebetween FMT and Engine disconnected

Sony WEGA LCD TV Model KFE50A10 wont turn on

It turns out that the number of red lights flashing, relates to a partiuclar error problem. My TV was flashing 4 red lights, pausing , then flashing again etc etc. This particular error meant that one of the five fans within the TV box had stopped funtioning. So the TV has gone to the repairman today. I was advised by an operator at the SONY STYLE CENTRE that such a repair would be considered as a genuine fault and that SONY would pick up the tab. I live in hope
