I cannot get sound to play through my 7.1 speaker system and RX-V3800.
I have the cable plugged into the back of the AVR unit and 6' HDMI cable plugged from the TV to the "HDMI out" slot.
My Panny Blu-Ray player works fine over either TV speakers or 7.1 system.
Any suggestions?
Let me see if I understand. You have one HDMI cable linking your TV and AVR? This is only to send video and sound out to your TV from the AVR you will not be able to send sound back over this same cable. You'll have to use the TVs audio out and connect it to an input of the AVR. The "HDMI out" on the AVR is just that Out and not In. Yes, I only have one HDMI cable linking the plasma HDTV and the AVR.
I would have thought that the coax cable hooked into the AVR would give the AVR the sound signals it needs to play over the 7.1 system.
I have a splitter running the cable TV signal to both the TV and the AVR.
Do you know if I could plug the TV into one of the other HDMI slots for 2-way signals?
I thought the whole idea was to reduce cabling to one HDMI cable running up the wall to the TV.
As you can guess, I'm struggling a bit with this. The manual is not that helpful. I followed it to the letter but still no sound in TV mode.
I checked the AVSforum but can't find this specific problem.
