Black and Decker Strimmer GL701 type 1
The drive belt comes off, which means that the strimmer looses power.
I've put it back on once, but it soon came off again.
Is this problem common? What is the answer?

I have the same problem. The plastic belt drive wheel wears at the edge of the teeth at the shoulder (which also wears) and allows the belt to slip off. Where can you get a new toothed wheel? And why is it plastic when the smaller toothed drive wheel on the end of the motor which drives the belt is made of metal? How do you get the plastic wheel off?

If this item is under warranty... As much as I hate to say get it to a service center... You probably should do so. Could you fix it... yes. I think the cost of parts and your time would be equal to the shipping cost to the service center. At least if you send it off to the service center... you don't have to worry about not getting tiny piece parts re-installed correctly to reassemble the plastic body over the motor.
Hi Bill,
If you turn it upside down you will see the strimmer head. You should be able to remove the protective cover which will allow access to the string cassette. The rest is self evident.
