Hello sortugado,
If your sound is dead, This could mean that you've plugged it into the wrong socket.
This could be wrong. But try this.
Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Right Click on the Sound/Audio (it should have a yellow sign next to it) Then go Find Manually and go down the List, Press Sound & Hardware, What ever brand your computer is, there should be sound that is the brand name as the same computer brand you have. Once that's found, Click it. It should then install your hardware sound.
If this problem still doesn't work, You can simply go on ebay and buy a $5 Sound card. These do work, I am using one now, and let me tell you, it's absolutely great! So cheap great quality, and fast shipment. I hope you get your sound to work :)

Here to help!
I tried everything every one told me.....messed up my computer.....so...I tried something of my own and it worked... My model is a w3050 I downloaded software from a link on one of these forums at Nvidia.com. The audio drivers were messed up with this download no matter how many times I uninstalled and re-installed. So I researched my original audio drivers for this model. Found out they were Realtech Ac'97 audio drivers so uninstalled the Nvidia audio drivers only and left everything else that was Nvidia. Then went tohttp://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/down... The Realtech website looked for Ac'97 audio drivers found em and downloaded...simple ;)
