The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

Why is my lens still stuck, and why does it not seem to charge?

Send it back to Nikon for repair, or buy a new one.

I have a Minolta xg-1 slr manual camera and the lever seems to be stuck and pressing the shutter release button doesn't do anything

Make sure you have good batteries and clean the battery cap with an eraser or alcohol in case there is any corossion from leaking batteries. This camera will not operate without battery power.

Power button stuck down on my sony cyber shot dsc s600

Possible that this is a mechanical failure and the switch is broken or out of place. Remove the battery and check the charge, if this seems fine then replace and tap the camera upside to see if the buttons resets.
If not the camera must be taken out, try to open ONLY if you have the correct tools and do not try to open otherwise to damage the unit.
Best option is to take an opinion from Sony for estimation.

Lens wont retract or extend when pushing the power button and cannot take photos. power will not remain on.

Can you turn the camera on by pressing the playback button? This should turn the camera on to view pictures on the card without opening the lens.
Check the tab on the battery door. it should activate a micro switch next to the card slot on the main board. If this is damaged then the camera will not power up.
If the lens is stuck then this will also prevent power up

Lens stuck in the extend position.

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor in the lens assembly. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product. The cost is $87 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

I have replaced the batteries but my camera still does not come on.

If you have done so and you know the battery has a charge then it is a dead set. If it is under warranty have it replaced. if not underwarranty you can have it repaired or you can repair it yourself if you are familiar with opening up cameras.

Camera problem powering on

I took my battery out, used a pencil eraser to clean off the metal area on the bottom and gently scraped it with a knife. Presto, the camera comes on without having to push down ******* the battery.

Zoom is stuck

Just check the DC power supply flowing to the Lens block control. Some times the SMD fuse blows off and power may not reach the lens block motor.
