Hello! Ok this is the breakdown of the problem I have been experiencing for the last 2 yrs with the fridge (GSS25VGMBww). The initial problem was the freezer would get too cold. For example the ice cream would be a rock. Didnt matter if we turned down temp ect. Most recently the freezer has slowly got warmer. It boarderline doesnt free ice (still somewhat cold). Some frost (a little bit) build up in the back. Working like the fresh food size should. The fresh food side working well from the bottom up. So the vent on the bottom is pretty cold. The top vent is not and vent is open so I can see into freezer its not frozen shut. Bottom being pretty cold and the top being not cold enough. Previous to this (last yr) the top vent in fridge would be getting cold some of the time and other times not. Checked and cleaned out the coils (no help) condensor is Hot. It actually is so hot it concerns me. Any help would be appreciated....thank you!
Hello Scott, remove the food from the freezer side and remove the rear freezer panel. You will see a coil and it should be completely frosted over. If not then you have a sealed system issue. If it is froze solid in frost where you cannot even see the coil, then you have a defrost issue. You should have a little frost on all the coil, the defrost is what clears the frost so the evap fan motor can circulate the air thru out the unit. If frost is good, push the light door switch to start the fan. If it isn't running check for 120 volts. If it has voltage, but not running, replace the motor. Hope this helps.
