Hi, I want to upgrade my RAM from 256 MB 400MHz DDR1 (hynix) to 1GB DDR1. Do the both will work together or i would have to use 1GB alone? Im having ASUS K8V- VM motherboard. Will it be compatible with the 1GB RAM

It will be compatible but it is recommended, you use same type of modules(RAM)
ie 256 MB + 256 MB
1GB + 1GB
Plus the advantage of using two instead of one(If you want 2GB, go for 1-1Gb two modules, depends on you) are, if one fails other works.

Hmmm, something does not appear correct. The Crucial memory selector indicates that the Versa Premium will hold 2 256 MB DIMM for a total of 512 MB.

Im guessing your new memory isn't new? Get some of the lightest sandpaper you can find and give the pins a gentle clean and make sure theres no dust left over. Most memory is guaranteed for life nowdays thats how confident these companies are at keeping up quality. ........ cheers and please vote

Does ''FOXCONN 8657MF-series'' supports 400mhz fsb of RAM

Yes, you can add it. The faster 1 GB will be downclocked to the speed of the slower 256MB.
But it would be better for performance to remove the 256 MB one completely.

Ram upgradation for 845glad mother board

Hi! If you have orignal Intel D845 then you need ram less than 333 Mhz (Around 266mhz or so) and do remember to check that it is advisable not to use RAM of more than 1GB as you won't be able to find a 1GB RAM(DDR1) with 266 Mhz or less.
