Oster power max A2 animal clipper: Removed the blade and never got it back together correctly for it to cut. Maybe its the placement of the little drive shaft or the direction its placed. There is no detailed clear diagram of that area that came with it or one I can find. Can you advise please?

SOURCE: NEED PARTS FOR OLDER OSTER CLIPPERS

I gave it a shot and it worked!!!....

No need to bother with the universal guards. They looked bulky for the task, and after careful (visible scrutiny) decided to gamble on the "fast feed clipper" guides. Check them out here:

http://www.cache-beauty.com/oster0541.html

There are surely other people who sell them - you might shop around, but I bought from these guys. Warning, the shipping price is kinda steep. But like I said in my last post, I've tried other clippers and these are just the best. It was worth it to me.

Anyway, I am now confirming that these guards fit this old clipper brand of ours. Perfectly!

SOURCE: blade change problem & no info in enclosed instructions

Hi A5 blades are not made to be unscrewed. They are snap on blades. You can call 800-830-3678 which is Oster Direct consumer service. They will walk you though the process or you can send them back to Oster and they will put them back together and realign them for you. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: CHANGING BLADES

There is a small gun-metal colored bar (dark gray or black) at the very rear, just below the back of the blade. It pushes inward, in the direction of the blade. Push it firmly in and pull up on the teeth of the blade. It should pop upward. You can then remove the blade from the tongue that it sits upon. When you want to put it back, slide the blade back on the tongue, then, WITH THE MOTOR TURNED ON, push the blade down to its seated position. It will click into place.
Hope this helps you.

Oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Oster Golden A5 Clippers will not cut

If the clippers are new, it is not likely that the problem is internal. Sometimes, when the blade is put on the clipper, it needs an extra little push to clip firmly behind the blade catch (you can hear a little click). Try that.

Newbie Clipper needing advice

This is from the Oster book:
Changing Blades
To Remove: IMPORTANT- stop motor; push latch with thumb while lifting blade away from clipper and slide off tongue.
To Replace: turn motor on; insert blade on tongue fully and then snap blade into place.

Note: if the hinge is flush against clipper, lift it up with a screwdriver.

From me - Never take your blades apart to clean them. You can slide them one side to the other to get the hair out. (One little hair, can stop them from cutting.) You need to buy a can of clipper blade cool from oster or andis both are good, and it really helps to lubricate the blade and keep them cool while clipping. If you live near a dog groomer, petsmart or something of the like. Ask them to show you how to remove the blade and I know they will be happy to show you. I tried to submit an image from the book, but I don't know if it will get here or not.

Clippers wont cut

If possible try the blades on another clipper just to make sure the clippers are ok, otherwise it sounds like a sharpening problem.

The blades could be dull, dirty, or too loose; or an internal part might need to be replaced.
